    According to the Shields Gazette...

    http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/united_will_be_ready_for_reds_1_3322878

ALAN Pardew has warned Liverpool that his Newcastle United players will be ready to run themselves into the ground at Anfield.

Pardew’s side looked slightly jaded at Bloomfield Road on Saturday after their midweek efforts against Manchester United.

Newcastle were pegged back after opening the scoring, and Pardew – whose side had held Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League leaders to a goalless draw at St James’s Park four days earlier – felt tiredness was a factor in the 1-1 draw. However, United have a free week before Sunday’s visit to Anfield, where the club hasn’t won in the Premier League since 1994.

And having all but guaranteed their top-flight status with the point they took from Blackpool, the mood will be relaxed at the club’s Benton HQ this week ahead of the game – and a possible reunion with former striker Andy Carroll.

“I think we’re definitely safe now,” Pardew told the Gazette. “The most important thing at Blackpool was our energy.

“Blackpool hadn’t had a game, and it showed. They had so much more energy than us.

“It evens it up at this level. Our energy levels will be the same as Liverpool’s, so we’ll give a much better account of ourselves in a team in good form.

“We’ll go there with confidence. There’s still a lot to play for this season, and we want to give our fans a good day.”

Carroll, meanwhile, is a doubt for Liverpool, having missed their win over Birmingham City with a knee problem.

“He’s not too bad, but obviously we’ll just have to wait and see how he is,” said manager Kenny Dalglish. “It’ll be a big game for him next week, but it’s a bigger game for the football club.

“It’s Liverpool that are playing Newcastle, not Andy. If he’s fit, he’ll be considered. If he’s not fit, then there’s nothing we can do anything about it.”

It's good that he's confident and I must admit I think Liverpool could be in for a shock. I'm very confident of a result, we play well in front of shaky defences and Liverpools is pretty poor. Kyrgiakos will struggle with Lover's pace and hopefully Shola can make a nuisance of himself.

Here's hoping for another 3-1 toon win <ok>

I think the Liverpool we play will be alot better than the one we played earlier this season. Im not feeling to good about this one, reckon we might get away with a draw at best.

Their defence is not great and if we keep Suarez and Kuyt quiet I feel we could get a suprising result

Glad Pardew's feeling optimistic, confidence is just what we need if we're going to get anything out of this game.

Hopefully we can make great use of their shaky defence, and not have anymore Blackpool-type-shakes ourselves!

Didn't think he was your type, he seems a little on the short side...

  11. Totally bangable though. Tight buns. Not quite as tight and ripped as Hughton, but still. He's pretty fit.

Good to hear positive vibes from Pardew but I'm not so sure. When did we last get a result at Anfield? Buggered if I can remember.

Heart says a draw, head says we'll lose 1-0.
