Walcott wants to play as a striker. Will he now go on to be ours?

Would def put some teams under the cosh! Isn't that why we bought downing though? TO help maximize Carroll potential? At the moment we have 2 strikers and 1 of them is finding the pace of the prem a little hard to come by.

  2. Carroll was allowed to leave by Rodgers for reasons we all now full well about, what makes you think he will bring him back and add someone very similar in Llorente come January...?

IMO, Neymar would be perfect for us but will obviously never happen!

Because he has balls Gerrez, big chocolate salty ones. <ok>

Neymar, ffs. He barca bound I hear. I would like for us to go after Pierre Emerick Aubumeyang but doubt he is on the radar.

  4. I did say it wouldn't happen, for several reasons too. Other than on FIFA, I don't know anything about Aubumeyang. I'm willing to bet my right knacker that we don't have Carroll and Llorente as options come February <ok>

Carroll left because the owners said his wages were to high for the subs bench.

    Pierre Aubumeyang

    2011–12 36 apps, 16 goals

    2012-2013 6 apps, 4 goals.

We will go for a striker who plays along the ground.

In time I can see us not even having a main striker for a lot of games. Kinda Spain style.

£12-£15 million? With 6 months left on his contract? If Arsenal look for that, we can approach Walcott himself and get him to sign a pre-contract, Arsenal get zero. I reckon Arsenal would take £8-£10 million for the boyhood Liverpool fan.

Walcott would be good if he was brought in with another, more proven goalscorer. Ideally someone like Falcao or Leandro Damiao, unrealistic as those may be. Heck, I'd take even take Bent or Defoe, as they can both find the net fairly regularly.

We just need someone to start scoring, release the pressure to score a touch, and then I'm sure goals would definitely come from other players. <ok>

Damiao would have signed for us in the summer but Rodgers didnt like his wage demands, just like he didnt like Sigurdson's.

Maybe Damiao will learn he is being unrealistic and change his ideas.

Hope so, as he is a quality finisher. We really need that now.

Walcott would be a good winger. He's a proven premeir league winger with his goal and assist record over the last few years.

He is unproven as a striker, and the fact a manager with the quality of Wenger hasn't seen fit to play him upfron regularly after working with him for 6 years then you've got to question where this belief comes from that he is able to play at the highest level as a striker. And it also suggests that his belief that he can play upfront is no more realistic than Joe Cole's belief that he should've been playing as a #10 for Chelsea/Liverpool/England.

  16. He can only officially sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign team. Also, the pre-contracts are worth ****all <ok>

Arsenal have goal scoring forwards, so maybe they thought 'if it ain't broke...' I'd play anyone up front, at the moment, if there was a chance they would be able to score. Walcott's got real pace and that, even on its own, can get chances to score, or to assist on, a goal. What would we have to lose? We're not scoring loads at the moment, anyway.

  18. Why are people not listening to the Arsenal fans? Most of them don't want him to re-sign, they'd rather see him leave. Doesn't that tell you something?

Yes, Walcott has bags of pace and on his day can scare the biggest of clubs (see Barcelona comments from a couple of seasons back) but he only has his day twice, maybe three times a season!

Yes, he is only 23 years old but he has been at Arsenal and in or around their first team for five or six years now yet doesn't seem to have progressed too much. His stats have gone up slightly but that could have more to do with a certain RVP scoring for fun too! This season will give a better indication of his progress IMO.

I have said several times that I do not want him anywhere near Liverpool Football Club. In fact I have gone on record as saying I'd rather chew my own left testicle off than sign him! I'd rather re-sign Robbie Fowler at a grand old age of 37!

Walcott is probably as good as we can get in all honesty.

Well if he was a free agent, I'd agree with you! But he isn't and we'd have to wait until January to sign him, he'd want close to 100k a week AND he's not even a proven forward! There'll be loads of options in January, people who are actually strikers and have proven themselves to be good playing upfront! It would be a massive waste of money to bring Walcott in as our striker when he's not even had a run of games there in his career.

And I know you've said we should bring him in along with a proven goalscorer, but being realistic and going by our dealings in the summer our budget will only stretch to one signing.
