I think you're mistaken, it was Everton that was associated with John Barnes and bananas. You're just sick that Digger in 1987 turned down Fergie's mid-table Manchester United and joined 1987 runners up Liverpool.

    1) Why would a Watford fan be sick that their player joined you lot and not Man United?
    2) In Liverpool's last home game of the 86/87 season they could be very clearly heard singing the banana boat song at 3 black Watford players - bit odd really when you think it was Ian Rush's last game before going to Juventus and you sill had an outside chance of winning the title. Says a lot about their priorities if you ask me. I didn't say they threw bananas by the way.
    3) This is a thread discussing the behaviour of Liverpool fans - you don't have to a Manchester United fan to find the antics of some elements of your support over the last 4 decades a little unsavoury.

It is ironic how now they view Barnes in a different light. When he was recruited, there was an outcry from the MAJORITY of fans. He got death threats, he got chants, he got bananas thrown to him on the pitch. He got calls saying " we have nothing against you mate but Liverpool is not a club for you and you won't fit in...."

That is why when the whole Suarez incident blew up, the stance taken by the scousers did not surprise me. They argued on definitions ("Oh but this term is a term of endearment in South America...") but couldn't see the wood for the trees. They couldnt see or at least that muppet KKK couldn't see why so many people were outraged by their actions. They worse T-shirts to support someone accused of racist actions FFS! They must now cringe at those actions...

(How long before Dango/BBMuppet surface and take the bite...<whistle> )

Maybe you could also aim that comment at SKD/ OzzieAssaidi, Davidako and DDDDDD on the Lfc board?

Exactly what I was going to say.

Throw donga darko in while you're at it.

The point you originally made Red is perfectly valid, maybe you should aim it at the threads on your board which describe our fans at the game on Sunday as scum.

When they responded to provocation from two of your angelic lads of course. There were only two of them so it didn't really matter, eh? How dare our scum fans respond?

No, while locked in after the match they should have just stood there silently as Liverpool fans ran about the pitch mimicking aeroplanes. And then applauded them off the pitch.

Before that they should have joined in the singing of YNWA and then watched all 90 minutes of it in absolute silence <ok>

Whilst cheering Gerrard's goal and booing United's goals.

Then, and only then, would they have behaved as expected. Nay, demanded.

Did I not cover that view with my first post - you know, the "you've got twats, we've got twats" bit. This thread isn't on our board mate.

Listen Rufflad. I'm not going into that again. The intention of my initial post was to try and apply balm to the whole thing. Surely you see that. You know me. Well, Swarbs does.

    I know. Don't worry, I do know.

My point is still valid though, your point would be better served directed at the two threads started by day do dough whatever, as he is under some really strange impression that after decades of being on the receiving end of Munich chants, and after spending the entire game within the spirit of the occasion, our supporters should just stand and watch two morons mimicking a plane crashing.

It was only two of them after all.

As a former/current match goer, you should know what football fans in crowds are like and what they will do. Never in a million years would they stand in silence, and why the **** should they?

Changing the subject, have a look on our board aqt the thread "How Bad Is This.........................." It started as a comment on the weather and it's turning into a scrap between smokers and non-smokers. You see my point?
