The broke their own record of going down with the lowest points! They were the best, "worst team" in the Premiership...twice!
At least they're best at something. Also has anyone seen this: http://www.safc.com/news/20110426/striking-pair-may-miss-campaign_2256213_2347301
Yeah I've heard that they haven't got any fit strikers, I told my mackem "mate" that they should put Richardson back upfront...only to find he's injured too!
Also , 8 years ago today this happened : 2003 Sunderland (a) 1-0 (1-0) Premiership 65pts, 3rd Solano(43pen) 45,067 United extended their unbeaten run in hicksville to ten games, after Kevin Kilbane upended Craig Bellamy in the penalty area. With Alan Shearer having already gone off with a calf injury, Nobby Solano converted the spot kick and condemned Mick McCarthy's rabble to their thirteen successive league loss. The Magpies survived a late scare when Kevin Kyle's header was chalked off after Tore Andre Flo fouled Shay Given. Although the red and whites claimed they'd been robbed, that conveniently ignored the early effort from Shearer that referee Steve Bennett ruled out for a similar infringement.
It's unreal! I thought we were hard done by for injuries but I can't get my head around how Sunderland have got into that position in the first place, they've been Premier League stalwarts for four years now and spent a daft amount of money yet they've managed to sit out the remaining four games of the season without a single fit striker. WTF?
That's because they needed to spend all of that money to stay in the Premiership year after year. Most of their players are loans anyway! haha
They'll have to do what Everton did when they had no strikers and play midfielders up front. Didnt they play Cahill off Fellaini (and it worked)?
Something like this... -------------------****e------------------- ****e--------****e--------****e--------****e ****e---****e---****e---****e---****e---****e It's different I suppose...
