At 33, he's getting on a bit, but he's got a hell of a record, 225 goals in 314 games and he plays in midfield.
Do we need anyone at the moment ? imo No we dont. Steve Bruce will have his list and he will stay patient. Once more PL clubs are out of the COC then players will be allowed on loan. Could be that SB is waiting for such to happen. With Oli back fit and Paul Mckenna available again the bench keeps getting stronger. No doubts that the Allams will allow something in January. His HDM interview from the summer will be dusted off and brought to everyones attention again especially if City are still in the top 6. imo,.
Is Mckenna available for Saturday ? I think if Oli gets injured again, he will play rather than Evans.
It could be argued that we don't need anybody, the team is playing well (barring the blip on Sunday). But the bench doesn't strike me as awe inspiring. There was only Proschwitz in there who can change how we play up front. I'm not counting Oli because he should be back in the starting line up on Saturday. So a bench of Oxley, Dawson, Rosenior, McShane, Evans, McLean, Proschwitz doesn't really look very strong. I think we need cover in the CM position, maybe Petrucci from Man U on loan for a bit. Or if we can lure him away, Tunnicliffe (he hasn't made the impact that Fergie said he would after Nick Powell's breakthrough, I imagine he's pretty miffed he couldn't go out on loan after all that talk about him staying). Shame we don't have any links to Chelsea because Thorgan Hazard was available for loan before he went to Zulte Waragem and he's supposed to be really, really technically gifted. I'd look into loaning McLean out; we have Proschwitz, Simpson, Aluko and now Fryatt returning and that's four quality strikers. If they wanted to bring in a young PL striker on loan then I think McLean would be the one allowed to leave. On a slightly different note, the Chelsea youngster Islam Feruz (one of the greatest Scottish names ever) is on a contract reportedly worth £2,500 a week. he's 17 ffs and still in the youth academy. Silly money being thrown around there.
McKenna was available for last Sunday, but didn't even make the bench for some reason, I assume he will this weekend.
Is this really a good idea for a direction to take this thread? I can see Mick's house being suicide bombed by someone in Feruz's family, and if it is the others will be saying Jihad your chance to apologise for disrespecting us but you kept taking the piss. Oh, and we do need a midfielder. You don't wait until Oli gets injured again before you decide we don't have any cover, that's how you end up having to change your style of play and losing games.
