Also being Welsh I can say that it would be great having Cardiff and/or Swansea in the PL. They are no different to any other Championship club, just they are in Wales (and are still very easy to get to).

The Welsh league is the lowest standard league in the UK, by a huge distance. Most of the players are amateurs, not even Pro.

same. Welsh Toon fan. There will be trouble when the likes of QPR, Leeds and Millwall get promoted too, nothing to do with being Welsh. All clubs have idiot fans, some have a few more than others.

Having someone like Cardiff in the Prem is really exciting for Wales, surely it can be seen as a positive to have something different for a change?

"The comment that really got up my nose was the comment that why should the Welsh clubs get the windfall of the Premership? Both clubs have great support and have good attendances every game unlike many of the English teams in the same division. Such a stupid comment to make."

Yes but the point i'm making is that they are Welsh clubs and not English clubs - surely the benefit of the millions of pounds recieved should go to an English club?

In my opinion it should, and I notice none of the last three contributers have mentioned the sickening violence and disgusting anti-English vitriol? Is that just to be tolerated then? Do you not agree it should be condemned?

Yes it should, in the same way all racism in football should be punished. The EDF are football hooligans, right? Racist chanting goes on in a lot of clubs, not just Cardiff and Swansea.

Like I said, every club has its idiots.

It's like I mentioned earlier, I think the anti-English ethic pales into insignificance when compared to the likes of Leeds and Millwall's history. For every Welsh Swansea/Cardiff supporting thug there'll be at least one English Newcastle/Sunderland/Leeds supporting thug. And yes I mention Newcastle specifically because we have one of the highest arrest/ban rates in English football, no doubt in some part due to the size of our support but it's a poor record all the same.

Wigan/Blackburn away games are bad enough with all the dicks that seem to go to those games, if cardiff gave an away end allocation of 5000 to the Geordies I dread to think what kind of trouble there would be.

Is Cardiff still owned by Sam Hammam?
Just I remember he didn't just tolerate their hooligan group, "Soul Crew", he was best mates with some of the most infamous members and I'm sure the BBC did a report a while back saying they have the most banned supporters from games than all the other clubs in the Football Leagues.

I'm sorry, but being family friendly at home games counts for nowt when they go around wrecking places on their travels, even this year there was bother in Leeds when they came and one of the biggest police convoys I've ever seen for visiting fans (I live near Elland Road and was made to sit at a traffic light junction for about 15 minutes as all their coaches came past, with about 30 squad cars and 15 riot vans - I regularly see convoys along the top of Gelderd Road, but never in that number). Nevermind to say they were trying to chuck **** out of the coaches' windows and sunroofs. I'm sure the vast majority of the fans who go to the home games are genuinely nice people, but some of the away fans are disgraceful and have a reputation for a reason, if they do get promoted I hope the exposure alone will be enough to get rid of the idiots or at least calm them down.

No they have new(ish) malaysian owners.

The idiot fans you are referring to are a small minority of Cardiff, every club has them, some clubs have quite a bad reputation for it agreed (Cardiff being one of them). I am not defending the soul crew or football hooliganism in general, but condemning all of Wales is a bit harsh.

    That would probably be Rhyl.

Benfica would have been bemused, stabbed, shot, high on drugs, had the bus's wheels nicked, had the bus nicked and have chlamydia...

There's two ways to go for me. Put Welsh clubs back in the Welsh leagues, or create a British league & national team. It's pretty stupid right now.

If Cardiff and Swansea earn their place in the Premiership then why not. Most clubs have an unruly element, and I know there were problems the last time Cardiff came to Newcastle but no doubt the police will be better prepared next time. We parked our car outside The Bridge pub on the night of the game against Cardiff, I couldn't believe how many police were outside the pub. I got talking to one of the officers and he told me a load of Cardiff supporters didn't want to leave the pub. They seemed to have a change of mind about going to the game and were settled for the night, they were a friendly enough bunch but the police had to move them on and escort them to the game.

The Welsh League was created almost a century after the foundation of Cardiff and Swansea. As for national teams, I couldn't care less. That has little relevance to club football.

would the same be said of Berwick if they were on the verge of reaching the SPL?

edit: thought the Swansea fans were some of the better ones last season

I believe that Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham should be allowed to join the Welsh national football league which has been running to great success now since the early nineties - yes, their finance will be limited but that's only fair to their geography. The other Welsh clubs manage and have a direct route into European competition.

From what i've heard, the Welsh generally hate the English so will more than likely be glad to be rid of us from their routine.

Happy days follow their departure... <cheers>...
