Webber's been terrible since winning at Silverstone; 8th, 8th, 6th, DNF, 11th. He really doesn't cope well with the pressure of a championship, he fell away towards the end of 2010 too.

Didn't Hamilton and Webber get the same points (0). How has one fallen back 14 whilst the other fell back 15 <whistle>

Where as Perez...... :bandit:

<laugh>

The championship is Alonso's to loose. The fight for 2nd may be interesting though.

Could be why they (Redbull) gave him that one year deal, Vettel is their clear #1, Vettel doesn't see him as a threat and from a team perspective, he's not Massa, in other words, he’s capable of bringing home a decent points haul to help in the Constructors battle?

probably, it's always seemed strange that they'd offer him one, and that he'd take it, after all the whinging, whining and out-right hypocritical ****-stirring he did in 2010. I wish they'd replace him, trouble is no one from STR is looking like a good prospect, I had hopes for Ricciardo after some of his drives for HRT, but he looks a bit erratic atm, then again he is only young.

Stole these from the STATS F1 website. It shows the first 4 then the next 5 and the last 5 races. As a for guide
please log in to view this image

Really illustrates what a waste of a season it has been for Button (if not both the Mclarens) and Webber. Alonso shines as Well. Dominates while the car is at its best and has only lost 4 points to Button and none to his real title rivals even as the car falls back.

With Vettel and Hamilton surely taking too many points of each other, Alonso is the big favourite.
McLaren to win the constructors.

Just goes to show that A) consistency is key and B) that Raikkonen has been gradually getting better and better.

Using Silver's stats, Alonso, not including the middle patch of races has an average of 12 points a race.

Knowing this, he'll have 266 points at the end of the season.

Vettel will need 102 points to beat him, and that's an average of 17 points a race. Which is:
• four wins and a 9th (R)
• three wins, a 3rd and a 4th (R)
• two wins, two 2nd's, a 3rd and a 10th
• one win, one 2nd and four 3rd's
• five 2nd's and a 4th
Raikkonen will need 118 points to beat him, and that's an average of 19[SUP]1[/SUP]/[SUB]3[/SUB] points a race:
• four wins and a 2nd (R)
• three wins, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 5th
• two wins, three 2nd's and a 3rd
Hamilton will need 125 points to beat him, that's an average of 20[SUP]5[/SUP]/[SUB]6 [/SUB]points a race:
• five wins (R)
• four wins, a 2nd and a 6th
• three wins, two 2nd's and a 3rd
(R) = A retirement is allowed

Hamilton will need to be Raikkonen-esque (the 2007 version) to overhaul tat and Raikkonen can't be too shabby himself, plus they'd need Alonso to get some bad luck to finish 4th on average, which I can't see happening.

Why not? surely it's time Alonso had some bad luck, it's his to lose and 2007 & 2010 showed he can crack under the pressure.

True, but the 2012 Alonso is a different beast, I don't think he'll beat himself up, the others will have to win it!

And not only that, in both of those seasons, he came from behind too. He's always at his best at the end of the season, except in 2006. But his start was more than enough to make up for that.
I think this season is going to be like 2009, at this stage of the season, Button had a car similar to the Ferrari in the positions it should be getting, and had a healthy lead where 3 other drivers all stole points off one another.

The guts of one race win in it could certainly not be considered his to lose by any means. Ferrari have also fallen back quite alarmingly. If he maintains the consistency and gets maybe one more win under his belt he will be laughing, but the downward performance trend of the Ferrari will be giving him some uncomfortable sleeps

I think given Alonsos fortune this season, even if Seb, Lewis or Kimi catch him you can bet it will rain in Brazil :D

I don't really see how he cracked under pressure in 2010. It was a minor miracle that he managed to put himself in such a position going into the final race but the only people to crack were those on the pit wall who decided to follow Webber into the pits.
