Good to see last seasons U-18s at half time today. I hope that some of those lads can push on and follow the path that Kaca is laying down at the moment.
The Middlesborough report gives more details, as well as the team line-up - http://www.mfc.co.uk/page/news/latest/0,,1~2920424,00.html Rosc, the regular keeper Oberschmidt was in goal so he's obviously fit again. No idea who the sub keeper, Bunting, is though.
Thanks Cottager, not good enough when you have to go on to the oppositions board to get ones own team sheet. Have heard that" Ober ",is being watched by a couple of top German sides, and Jeronen by P St G.
The U21s take on Middlesborough tonight and hopefully, as Kit Symons says, they'll get their first points of the season - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/september/17/u21s-host-boro NB: The game at Motspur Park (ko 7pm) is open to Members and Season Ticket holders
Fulham 0 Middlesborough 0 (U21s) A strong Flham side, includung 5 squad players plus Grygera were held to a disappointing draw this evening. The line up was - ...........Stockdale.......... .. Grimmer...Grygers..Burn..Briggs ..........Christensen..Smith ..Kasami....................Banya .........Trotta...Altman.... Despite strong runs from Briggs, Banya and Kasami the first half lacked any clear cut chances and the only shots were weak efforts from Kasami and Trotta. If anything the second half was even more lack lustre. There was no lack of effort but everything was too rushed and littered with mis-placed passes. In fairness to Middlesborough they defended in depth and were quick to snuff out any danger in mid field. Grygera, while never really threatened, had a competent game and was quick when needed. In fact all back four had a solid game. The midfield pair, Chirtensen and Smith, worked hard but were unable to put a stamp on the match. Up front, Trotta was never in the game and his first touch was poor; Altman likewise (he was subbed at half time by Donegan). Banya always looked threatening, especially in the first half but in the second was almost crowded out by his own players (Briggs and Donegan) and never got going in the second half. Which leaves Kasami. And I'll leave it at, disappointing;terrible mis-placed passes, determined to shoot (none of which were worth a puff) rather than create a chance for others. The over-riding thought I was left with after the match was whether it is sensible to include players like Trotta and Kasami in these games. They have an arrogant attitude and act as though are above all this and cosequently try to be too clever/take on too much. In essence they don't play as team members. This is a strong league and the other players won't benefit if they don't get together collectively and I reckon they need a string of games with a stable team of youngsters. I understand that squad players need games but at the moment the Club doesn't seem to have come to terms with the concept of not having a reserve team and the need to have an U21 team with the aim of developing the youngsters (I hope that makes sense !).
Could not agree more cottager, this performance apart from the point gained, was a mirror image of the last under 21 game. I know Jol did not want to loan out any of this squad, but heaven forbid if we have to play them in the first team Briggs,Trotta, Kassami should all be out at championship sides I still feel Stockdale has no command of his area, and a priority in the next transfer window is definitely a quality keeper. Kit must get a grip of these as yet unproven prima donnas.
Here's the (brief) Club report on the U21 game v Middlesborough - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/september/17/ffc-u21s-middlesbrough
Again the opposition site gives a better account of the game - http://www.mfc.co.uk/page/news/latest/0,,1~2922153,00.html
Back to the marvellous U18s - here are video highlights of that 5-1 victory over Middlesborough - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=97YUHkEM-Wk
The efferevescent U18s take on a strong Man City side tomorrow - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/september/21/u18s-face-city It sounds as though our goal scoring duo, Moussa Dembele and Emerson Hyndman, are back from injury so here's hoping.... Interesting to read that Andres Coles' son is playinf for City. The game is at Motspur Par (ko 11am) and so far as I can tell open to members and season ticket holders (although when I was at the Cottage this morning for tickets to the U21 game v Chelsea on October 5th, the staff there weren't sure).
Fulham 3 Man City 2 (U18s) A terrific team performance from the youngsters, especially in the first half. Our goals came from Cauley Woodrow, Lyle Della Verde and Tankovic. A special mention though to Pat Roberts who kept his place in the higher age team and made one assist - definitely one to watch.
Tee hee. I keep confusing the two of them Bidley - duly edted. Here is the Club report - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/september/22/u18s-result That's 4 undefeated and 19 goals. I've got to say I'm quite excited by the U18s.
Another great performance from our lads. Steve has got this side playing for each other, and the commitment was 100% from both sides. The skills from Man Citys 14 yr old wonder winger were superb. Its a great shame we do not attract more supporters, great entertainment for a couple of quid, and we are tops. I have written to the club suggesting there is some sort of pre match involvement for the kids, great for them to be a part of something and great for us as future supporters
The U18s along with Chelsea are the only unbeaten teams in the newly structured Academy League. Both are in the same Group and have a head to head on 6th October - should be quite a game. In a (brief) post on the Club site Steve Wigley acknowledges their achievement to date - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/september/23/talented-group Meanwhile the U21s take on Man City at Motspur Park tomorrow in their next League game. Sadly the game is behind closed doors. [Note: I believe the U16s lost 2-0 to Bristol Rovers yesterday but so far haven't been able to get any confirmation.]
Fulham 1 Man City 0 (U21s) In a hard fought game Kasami got our winner. As you'll see we had quite an experienced CB pairing with the return of Senderos and Kara also got his first run out. please log in to view this image In all we played 8 squad player in the initial line up !
And here is a decent write up of the game by the Club - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/september/24/u21s-score
It's just a shame it was played at Motspur Park, otherwise we could have had referee Pottage at Craven Cottage. Maybe that one belongs in Poetry Corner rather than this thread. Fans of 80s synth-pop might also enjoy the combination of assistant referee and fourth official Howard and Jones. I'd like to get to know them well.
