I still think it is insane we are not playing Sahin who, once he gets fit, will absolutely run our midfield and have us ticking the ball around nicely, not just side to side, but creating chances at the opposite end. I hope with Shelvey out now and that he can solidfy that role and add some extra creativity in there. Still feel so wrong done about yesterday but at the end of the day it is our own fault for stupid defensive mistakes ( Agger didn't close Rafael down and in fact made himself tiny instead of big) and the whole PK was a calamity of giving the ball away our own players smashing into each other then the dive. Add lack of goals and ya it is a hard one to take.
Let's be clear. I didn't call for Kenny to be sacked. Whilst I believe that Rafa was one of the best managers that we have had, both of their days have passed AND NEITHER OF THEM IS COMING BACK! So whittering-on is doing no good at all. I have argued that Rodgers has to be more than just a mouthpiece chanting a tika-taka mantra. I don't believe that he is. If only through circumstances he is not able to even try and repeat the same style of play that he did with Swansea. So, I for one will allow 10/12 games to pass before making a judgement on the style of play and the results achieved.
We played pretty well yesterday and Rodgers style could clearly been seen. We just need to be more clinical in the final third. It was not our own fault that we lost yesterday. The result did not reflect the performance.
Yes it was. We still couldn't take the possession and domination into goals and we had two very silly defensive errors that led to the goals, especially the second goal, dive or no dive, we allowed that to happen with some criminal defending.
I believe that Robbie hasn;t signed for anyone so far - we can get God on a free... I'll get my coat...
We don't just need a win but a string of wins, the performance was good yesterday and repeating that against so called lower teams will mean that we get some wins. I didn't want Kenny to go but thought Rodgers was a good appointment and I still think that, there were signs yesterday of players starting to understand the system. When we have beaten Utd in recent years it has been down to us wanting it more and working harder than them. Yesterday we played them off the park.
Norwich, Stoke, Reading, and Everton are our next games. We should be aiming for at least 9 points, at least.
What the hell do you think you are doing...? You are not allowed to look forwards, nor be positive! Yanks out
I love a good yank out...... but seriously Norwich and Reading should be wins, at this point it needs to be look you ****ers get the ****ing win against the teams we should be beating. Stoke at home could be tough but we normally do alright with them at home. Everton, form will be out the window again and just who can get the points on the day.
In theory, if we beat the teams we are "meant to beat", we would pick up a whopping 72 points with us only losing to Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton (for arguments sake). I'd be happy with that, it would give us CL football too
I remember when Joe Cole first signed for the club and they were asking him about his time with Chelsea and Mourinho and some things he learned from him and winning the prem. The number 1 thing that Mourinho would constantly enforce with them was when they played anyone outside of the big four ( at the time) that it had to be a win. If they did that then they would put themselves in the title race and at the very least guarentee CL. It is something we really should be looking at doing. Yes it is great to beat United, City, Chelsea, etc but it does no good if you constantly drop points to the newly promoted teams or the teams you are meant to take care of.
Indeed. Should be our mantra really. Once we get back in the CL then we can get the players to also bash the big 6 on the regular. Hope!
