Loads of opportunities to sack him last season, over the summer or even pre-season but now a few games in and Blackburn sit 2nd in the table doing best of all three relegated clubs. So my question is what do the club gain by sacking him now? He's certainly no more unpopular than last season. You could even argue he can now see a bright light at the end of a long tunnel. He has shown great dignity whatever you think of his ability. Just doesn't make any sense to me! What do others think?
I became sorry for Kean when fans were told he would be sacked if he lost three games and they cheered. He behaved with dignity and Rovers are second, but would never be surprised in football. What was clear was that the management don't want him so he is on borrowed time.

In reality Blackburn supporters have voted with their feet. Season tickets are down from 18,000 to 8,000 in two seasons and Ewood is less than half full.

I think its easier for us to judge fans like that because there really aren't a lot of teams to support round here, if Saints were doing badly (or pompey) it is very unlikely either teams fans would go and support the other so we tend to be more loyal. In the northwest, london and the midlands there are so many clubs to choose from that the fans can afford to be fickle and support someone else at the drop of a hat, even if it means going a few miles out the way than usual. Also I think most of Blackburn's fans are sending a message to Venkys by not turning up at games, they have done nothing good for the club whatsoever and the fans are punishing them for this fact.
It's a complete disgrace. He is a top referee and got most of the decisions right yesterday anyway. The people who abused him should be banned from football stadiums for life.
That's Les Reed. We just gave him a bonkers job title and threw in some stuff about the academy to stop people going up in the air. He's in charge of long-term football strategy and that's what a DoF does. When the DoF knows his place and the manager does too, it's a good system. Businessmen on the whole don't know much about football and often make bad choices.
Complete tosh, I'm afraid! Club loyalty is total in the North West, just as it is in your sunny corner. A Blackburn fan is a Blackburn fan. What they are doing is staying away because they hurt. When I was at Division 2 (under Lowe and Portaloo) and 3 games watching Saints only a short time ago I didn't assume that the "missing" thousands had gone off to support Spurs. What they did was to find something else to do on a Saturday afternoon. Once it became obvious that something good was happening the stadium began to fill again. The same will happen at Blackburn. Kean is a scapegoat, and after his departure there will still be a long way to go before they recover.
I'm surprised Jordan Rhodes went to Blackburn. The Championship is very unpredictable and Huddersfield's chances of going straight through aren't much different to Blackburn's chances of bouncing back. The latter could be in further doubt with the mess the club is in. Seems a bit of a sideways move and I'd be surprised if money wasn't a big motivator.
I agree with you on your last line, that it will take them a while to recover, but I'm not convinced there is a lot of loyalty in football frankly. I didn't care who we were playing in any division, I was just happy the prices were cheaper. Yeah ok i'll admit it does put you off seeing your team get hammered week after week, but at the moment Blackburn are doing ok. I do think some fans are making a statement at venky's, but I also think footie fans are more fickle than you think, I know plenty of people who abandoned saints the day we got relegated from the prem for a more attractive looking club like Chelsea. Its sad but true, loyalty means nothing to most people. Thats why it is so much more rewarding to stick with a club even when it isn't doing well, you feel much more part of a community than a 'fad'.
Thanks...didn't realise that. It seems to be working out okay....in the past a DoF seemed to be brought into clubs to interfere with the manager's job and prior to taking over the job. Also suggested that manager has lost his way. Don't want to sound too sycophantic, but sounds like NC has got balance right again.
