So Freddie, we know you admire Gerrard, what is it about the player that you enjoy and how do you feel he can adapt as he carries on at his age?

Freddie yes of course, its just amazing to see him play......

Thing is, by talking about referees making **** decisions against us we're not absolving our defence, we're talking about referees making **** decisions against us. Trying to take it off-topic or decide whether it affected the game is beside the point and the usual avoiding the point you get from United fans. United were poor again yesterday and whilst we weren't great either I think we can win on an even playing field. That said, I fully expect us to have a player sent off though for two bookings after dives by United players.

I'm sure the players are well aware of it too, YV.
Once Webb or Clattenburg get going, I doubt that helps their confidence or morale.

1 - who is reffing next week?
2 - who (if any) do we want reffing next week?
3 - who, along with Halsey/Webb/Clattenburg, do we NOT want reffing next week?

No, I don't think we are in particularly good form but we are still currently top. And no, I can't see into the future (sadly) and nor can you. But I would suggest that your mid-table prediction for Chelsea is more wishful thinking than insight.

Also, re your other post that you are top 4 and we are top 6 - well that was last season. This season we are currently top 1 and you are....looking long way down the table now.....ah there you are; top 8!

Also ask any neutral who the top 4 clubs are and we would be in and you wouldn't. Top 4 would almost certainly be us, Arsenal and 2 x Manc's.

    Corrected that for ya.
Ask anyone who paid attention last season who the top four were and they would say: city, utd, arsenal, spurs
Ask anyone paying attention now who the top four are and they would say: chelsea, utd, everton, west brom

    we sold Webb ages ago

    <whistle>

Seriously though Im hoping for a fair game and could see Spurs getting something as Dembele will run our midfield ragged, the 3 0 last season wasnt contriversal if memory serves me correctly so hopefully that will be the same for this game.

You are probably right. Doesn't make the view correct though, other opinions are valid too. At the moment top 4, in order, are Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd/Chelsea in terms of form. But wouldn't expect it to stay like that. If Torres plays well and, crucially, stays fit Chelsea will have a good season - but they also have to find a way to accommodate Oscar, Hazard and Mata who are all top players, but essentially play the same position. It's how they work those situations out that will be crucial.

    Asking neutrals is irrelevant, frankly.
How many neutrals would've said that Newcastle would finish above Chelsea last season? None.

The top 4 is the teams who finished top 4 in the league. Saying we're not top 4 because you believe there are 4 better teams is like saying you're not European champions because there's so many much better teams in Europe. Your opinion doesn't change the facts <ok>

Fair enough - you're entitled to a view. For sure the clubs that finished 1-4 last season were the top 4 clubs in the Prem' but that doesn't make Spurs a top 4 club imo.

If I was being asked who were the top four clubs (in this country) I'd take a broader view and include the 2 domestic cup performances and European performances over the last few years. I'm pretty sure that Chelsea would be in there - second behind MUFC if I was to be totally honest.

Re: much better teams in Europe - I don't think there are that many tbh. A few seasons back I would think we were top 5 in Europe but at the moment scraping into the top 10.

    Agree with you 100%.

Shame we haven't got a top notch striker on-board - if we had we would be really flying.

I have much more confidence in sorting the midfield out than our striker though. To me that is our major problem. FT has scored 9 in 52 Prem' games which is pitiful. I think he is past the point of redemption. We clearly failed to address this position in the last transfer window and I think it could cost us dear.

I reckon we'll finish 2/3 in the Prem', maybe another domestic pot and quarter finals CL. Ok but not earth-shattering. See how we go!

You can disagree with the facts all you want but it doesn't make it true. You can caveat our finishing 4th with it not proving particularly important in the end but it's still true that we're a top 4 club. If you don't think we'll finish in the top 4 again anytime soon I'd just say that. 2 + 2 does not equal 5 and Chelsea are not a top 4 club until they finish in the top 4 again :)

I was just just exaggerating about Chelsea to get a reaction. Very immature of me :D

The Top 4 are the 4 best teams in the league, which on last seasons showing were City, United, Arsenal and Chelsea, all of whom qualified for the elite European competition. I'm with Bloo on this.

    What a load of self-serving ****e.
The Top 4 are the teams that finished in the top 4. Hardly a revelation, that.
Chelsea are a top 6 team.

Were Pompey or Birmingham suddenly elevated to the top 6 or 7 because they won a cup?
    Embarrassing stuff.
