With regards to Kerkar's performance, I felt that he held onto the ball well and played some nice passes. However, I think that he suffers from the same problem as JJ at left-mid in that he lacks pace. Nice to see Green and Fuller actually running at the defence though. I really feel as if BWP is down on confidence he doesn't even look like he wants the ball anymore. He has totally lost the swagger he had at the beginning of last season. Worst thing is, it doesn't look like coming back anytime soon!
He has only shown that in patches since last November. But one match recently, I think it was Leicester, I was amazed at how hard he worked running to the wings and back in defence. He would be worth his place if he always played like that even if he didn't score too many. But I guess that is not typical. Some doubt that Fuller and Kermorgant would work as a front pairing. I think they would do fine and read each other's play much better than BWP can. Even when BWP and Kermorgant were on fire together they never struck me as a real pairing. It was more of a case of our opponents having to face individual threats on two fronts. But the defence and midfield would have to resist the temptation to balloon the ball forward in the air all the time and mix it up instead as F & K are both good along the ground. At present the team seems unable to resist that temptation. Not sure where the blame lies, with the coaches or with the players panicking. F&K would need a winger to supply the crosses so Green might come into his own at last. It would probably be the slowest attack in the division but we could live with that if they held and used the ball intelligently and converted a decent percentage of chances.
I think BWP has been one of the better players this season. Hassled and hurried defenders, taken then on when on the ball- but sadly hasn't had many chances due to the lack of creativity in midfield.
