Why is it that Hughes doesn't fancy him this season? In the games he didn't get sent off in last year his scoring record was fantastic and you can't question his commitment. The best striker we've had since Sir Les and he's sitting on the bench.
I agree it's odd. Some possible considerations: He has invested in a ton of midfield talent that he has to find space and tactics for. He likes to play 1 up front which doesn't suit Cisse. He possibly has doubts about Cisse's fitness and would rather keep him as an impact sub.
I'm wondering the same, although we obviously don't see the things that Hughes sees on the training pitch. Cisse looks low in confidence now and it's become a vicious circle of not starting and failing to make an impression when brought on. He needs to start against Reading and given a full 90mins to try to restore some confidence imo.
Agreed. Cisse prefers 4-4-2 where he can play off a target man. Our 4-4-1-1 of late doesn't suit him as the 1 behind the striker needs to work in the hole, which isn't what Cisse is all about.
I really disagree with that one. I can see that he has ability but he needs more time to prove his ability and become a QPR favourite. Where is his form this season? And yesterday, when he came on, he looked more tired than the players who'd started the game. He looked lazy and didn't seem to be up for putting any effort in. I was well pissed off with him yesterday. BZ was much better.
I wrote this on WATRB, cisse hasn't done enough when he's been on to merit a starting position! "He got 20 minutes today, 25 minutes vs chelsea, 10 vs city, 20 v walsall, 90 vs norwich, amd 77 vs Swansea, and he hasn't scored yet. He might have been a natural goal scorer last season, but he isn't at the moment.Come on from the bench and perform well, impress in training, that's how you earn your place! There was one time today when he lost the ball, and just watched as Spurs broke, making no effort to regain posession. I didn't like how he mentioned his plans for "after QPR" in an interview a week or so back... It sounded like his head is already back in france"
Realistically Cisse is not the type of Player MH likes. Cisse is a striker that you can't see on the pitch for 30 mins but given a chance will still put the ball away, where MH prefers players that give 100% percent for the team, chase harry run back etc... It's a conundrum with our squad, play Cisse and you trade the possible Goals for the guaranteed work rate ie AJ will run himself into the ground but from his goal scoring record doesn't produce as much in front of goal, hmmm.
Hes been awful this season, not even getting any chances and to top if off, he worse gloves and that alone is enough for being dropped IMO! Cisse can only play in a 442 and we will only use that in about 30-50% of games this season.
You play Cisse against the likes of Wigan, Reading, Saints but a harder working player against the top half teams. Same really goes for Taarabt.
If this is the same time I saw Cisse lose the ball badly with a backwood short slow pass with absolutely no address on it, outside their box, which they nearly scored from, Cisse did run back! But as he'd sent the ball backwards there was no way he was going to get it back as lomg as Spurs coutered quick which is what they did. I didn't think Cisse was much good yesterday either, but the point is he is our only recognised striker in our squad left fit apart from BZ, and he has shown plenty of times before this season that he is a good scorer and provider, so MH really needs to work with him to getting him performing for us again. We cannot rely only on BZ to score! I hope he gets a good run against Reading, scores a few, and picks up confidence to repeat this against the Hammers.
Cisse was awful against Swansea and has looked out of sorts since then. But we need him to sharpen up, and playing time whether in the first team or reserves is critical
MH brought him to dig us out of a hole, he needed a quick fire solution, a proven goals PL goal scorer. I like Cisse but does he fit into the style of player the MH would normally play...no but we shall see in the next few weeks from MH selection. Agreed...No defence for that what so ever
I think that probably is the same time, but he trotted back at walking pace, whilst bale/whoever it was charged towards our goal. Cisse's pretty quick himself! He could have at the very least run back to restrict the passing options of their man in possession. When most other players lose the ball you can see a switch in their head, and they go into regain mode. It's almost an "oh crap..i lost the ball, that was embarrassing..i can't let the opposition benefit from this or i'll look a right tit", and they crank up the intensity of their play to gain it back. Certainly at the moment, i don't think Cisee has that switch. I do agree though, it would be good to see Cisse get a lot of minutes against Reading, and i certainly hope Hughes is working behind the scenes to improve his form. It's strange.. All our french-speaking players have fallen by the wayside a bit this season. Obviously Taiwo left, traore/tarbs have been injured or off form, we know about Diakite, and Mbia still has a niggle. I can't imagine the spirits of any of them are particularly high, when last season they looked like quite a tight-knit group in the squad. I wonder if that has any impact on his confidence? If taraabt was firing on all cylinders in the side for example, perhaps he'd be more likely to stick an arm round cisse's shoulder and reassure him that "the goals will come".
I agree on the whole, although we need our flair players at home most of the time to get the points needed. If Taarabt is playing well, I'd play him against all of them at home.....and Hoilett.
Absolutely this. He's been a right lazy cu*t this season and that's why Hughes has rightly dropped him. It doesn't matter how much quality a player has, if they don't give it their all then they should never get a look in. Cisse had better sharpen up or ship out.
Think Cisse is just lacking form at the moment... im sure he will still play a big part in our season
