I'm not saying that it wasn't a penalty but I'm talking about overall throughout a season. If a team is up there then it'll get the breaks. Liverpool were the better team for a long spell but still lost. It happened to Liverpool a lot when they were always top, they had the luck and those the bottom nothing. Now it's the other way around.
A team destined for relegation will always, during a season, point to games they might have taken something from. That is nothing new. The season that Blackpool got relegated, they beat some top sides, including United. Alas, 'Pool can't even do that. I'm not saying 'Pool will definitely get relegated, but I don't care what anyone says, the Mousers have got to be worried.
Why? We have played 5 games, 3 of which against top top teams with well gelled sides. We played 2 of those 3 teams off the pitch and didn't get the results we deserve, so what? It just means we won't be as high up the table this year due to lack of being clinicle. HIAG, seriously, have you seen any of our games this season? I have been really impressed with how a young manager like BR with a shoddy squad left by KK has got us playing well quickly. It was never going to be a quick fix, only the most deluded of us are pissed off with the team/BR right now, which isn't very many TBH.
Really? Some of the players in these teams have played just as many as your newest signings (bar Man City who only played Rodwell, with the rest of the squad being there last year) , they hardly have an advantage, infact Liverpool should be more gelled with Europa League fixtures: 24 Mannone 04 Mertesacker 05 Vermaelen (Koscielny - 90') 25 Jenkinson 28 Gibbs 02 Diaby 08 Arteta Booked 15 Oxlade-Chamberlain (Ramsey - 72') 19 Cazorla 09 Podolski (Santos - 82') 12 Giroud 13 Lindegaard 02 Rafael (Welbeck - 89') 03 Evra 05 Ferdinand 06 Evans 07 Valencia 11 Giggs 16 Carrick 17 Nani (Scholes - 46') 26 Kagawa (Hernandez - 81') 20 Van Persie As you can see both teams out of the top four that have beaten you were boasting new attackers, and you can say some of them are still gelling (Giroud at Arsenal is a great example), these teams are hardly 'well gelled' are they?
Positions last season City - 1st United 2nd Arsenal 3rd, and yet we bossed two of the games. I'm not worried, you all call us deluded yet when we are not tearing our hair out about our current situation and yet pretty content with how we are progressing you all still get on our backs
You may boss the games, but whats the point of bossing the games when you don't come out with three points? Surely you should be concerned you have earned one point from the two games you have 'bossed'?
No, why should I be, do you honestly think we expect to win games like that having just changed our manager and squad? We finished 8th last season for a reason, it will take time. I am just happy that the players are fitting well together and the often hard stuff (like not hoofing and accurate passing) has been implemented from the get go. We have played better this season than in the last few season imho. We need a striker, but no chance of that until January, so no point moping about the obvious until then, is there?
Fair point, who would you want to bring in for January? As an outsider i'd think it must be a strong athletic striker who can hold up play and finish, in the cliche Drogba mold? One who stands out for me is Seydou Doumbia of CSKA Moscow, young, fast, athletic, great scoring record (34 goals in 56 games). The main issue I imagine would be finances, with CSKA wanting around £20m-£25m for him if the papers are to be believed, but surely the Yanks upstairs should throw some money at Rodgers to let him try and salvage something from this season.
Well you'd have thought someone to hold up play certainly, but then BR shipped out Carroll? Although I think it's because whilst carroll holds the ball up well, he isn't as good when balls are played to his feet. With finances, it's an issue. We won't be spending more than £15m max, and clubs know we'll be looking to sign a striker. At least though they will also know that we aren't willing to pay over the odds any more and if it's not worth it will walk away from deals if they're not right
What about the other two games that you didn't win? 1-1 v Sunderland and a 3-0 loss to West Brom. Two dismissals in the first five games isn't great either, to be honest. Far too early to make any judgements, but your injury problems seem to be mounting and losing's sometimes a hard habit to shake.
and there are games this season that you haven't won but should have, PNP. and it's fair to say you have yet to play a top team. Will be interesting next weekend.
Blackpools results against the 'big guns': Arsenal 6 – 0 Blackpool Chelsea 4 – 0 Blackpool Liverpool 1 – 2 Blackpool Blackpool 2 – 3 Man City Man City 1 – 0 Blackpool Blackpool 2 – 1 Liverpool Blackpool 2 – 3 Man Utd Blackpool 3 – 1 Spurs Blackpool 1 – 3 Chelsea Blackpool 1 – 3 Arsenal Spurs 1 – 1 Blackpool Man Utd 4 – 2 Blackpool So they did the double over Liverpool and beat Spurs/drew with them, but failed to pick up points in any of the other games about the 'big guns', although they did run Man Utd/ Man City close.
They drew at WHL. Did the double? Charlie Adam also made this delightful tackle on Bale and wasn't even booked. please log in to view this image
