Imagine for a second Berb makes a thread on the United board about your fans singing about people dying and booing a victim of racial abuse.

Now imagine it goes off about how bad you scum bags are yada yada yada.

Now what happens, do Liverpool fans come and say hang on, thats not fair. Do they remind us of the thing United fans have done? ( Page would, he always has a link for something <laugh> ).

We are just pointing out its a plot by sky to get a reaction and in many ways its worked.

There will be chanting at the next game and it will be sadly justified by those involved because United fans chanted at anfield.

6. Agreed <ok>

I refer to my point to you above, why are we arguing and fighting with each other? Why not join forces, work together and vent that frustration and anger at the ****wits that are involved in these chants?

I felt shame watching the "supporters" at the end regardless of who started it. But to then drag it out the next day with negative posts highlighting it(you know youn are!!)is akin to throwing petrol on the fire!!Nothing gets solved an just leads to more tension when we next face each other.

And that, Alan, is all we're asking for. Let me restate my agenda in order of importance:-

1) Despite all the pleas and entreaties to our fans, two fans are alleged to have made airplane gestures. I say alleged because, if you'll forgive us, we have the history of Oliver Holt's eyewitness allegations of racism in the Oldham FA cup tie - which turned out to be a text meassage from his hotel room in Dubai. IF these two fans exist and did as alleged tey should be indentified, banned for life and prosecuted. But if they can't and there is no evidence that it happened (impossible in the given circumstances) we need to hold the reporters and 'witnesses' of this slur to account. If necessary, ban them from Anfield for life.

2) Whether responding to taunts or not, several hundred United fans defied their own manger and impecable, dignified and gracious club. It's up to United what they want to do with them, but the cctv and sky footage exists to identify most, if not all.

3) It really is time to ban all away fans from this fixture in future at OT and Anfield.

Are our fans supposed to have booed Ashley Cole now? :emoticon-0120-doh:

I was wondering that too. Even if Liverpool fand did boo Evra, what about it? United fans sang stuff about Suarez and Gerrard, again why hasn't that been mentioned. It seems to me, that UIR is defending the actions of Manchester United fans, because in his mind, Liverpool fans must have done something first.

This.

Whoever the idiots were from both sides they need to be identified, prosecuted and banned from football grounds. I have zero respect for anyone who tried to turn this into "you said, they did" bollocks. Both sets of fans should be appealing for people to come forwards and identify the scum responsible instead of trying to score points.

I think that's a bit much to be honest. There's no evidence of the number of Utd fans involved in the chanting - Sky have pitchside microphones all around the ground so the chanting could well have been fewer than a hundred fans with a microphone positioned less than twenty yards away from them. Seems a bit much to punish all the decent Liverpool and Utd fans for the actions of the vast minority.

In fact, whilst it's obviously not on the same scale, it was that same "blame all the fans for the actions of the minority" attitude that arguably contributed to the pens and fencing that led to Hillsborough.

I agree with that, but the ''It was only a few Manchester United fans'' excuse is a load of nonsense. They were easily heard, and there was no need for microphones. It may not have be all 2800 of the away support, but it was definitely not a minority. This also does not excuse the chanting of a section of Manchester United fans before the start of the game. I've seen the video footage, and the section were easily heard. You definitely would not need ears like Gary Lineker and Francis Jeffers to hear it.

If Lfc fans made sick gestures, and they can be identified, they should be banned and perhaps prosecuted for incitement. If Utd fans can be identified as making sick chants, they too should be punished because quite frankly "they started it" is a miserable excuse.
As has been pointed out earlier, all decent fans should get together to condemn these idiots, not simply look to lay the blame on the other side.
The rivalry between our two clubs is part of what makes football so intense and addictive, but we should never let club rivalry spill over into genuine hatred- that, to me, is just madness.

Too right and there is no reason why at least the majority of those singing cannot be identified.

On the BBC piece this comment from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited interested me:

PGMOL said: "[We] abhor any abuse of match officials... in stadia or outside of it."

Now I do not condone the tweets that he appears to have received but are PMGOL now trying to say that fans are not allowed to voice their opinion on the performance of their members? As we well know abuse appears to be in the eye (or ear) of the recipient. Therefore, whilst I feel totally justified to chant "you're not fit to referee" am I to be prohibited because a PGMOL official may take offence?

I agree dave, the tweets were vile.

Btw was this said in stadia or outside?

On referee Alan Wiley:
The pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit. It is an indictment of our game. You see referees abroad who are as fit as butcher’s dogs. We have some who are fit. He wasn’t fit. He was taking 30 seconds to book a player. He was needing a rest. It was ridiculous.

Mark Halsey makes complaint to police over abuse received on Twitter

"I can confirm that my family have made a complaint to the police," Halsey told the BBC. "I will be speaking to the police on Wednesday after I have returned from refereeing Southampton v Sheffield Wednesday."

One of the abusive messages came from an account named @johnwareing1 and read: "I hope Mark Halsey gets cancer again and dies". Another, from @lfcjohn259, said: "Mark Halsey shouldve died of cancer", before being deleted. Both accounts have since been removed.

Despite apparently running the FA, Fergie was banned for saying that. <ok>
