I'd of had a any of Jones, Cahill, Jagielka or Lescott playing ahead of him anyway personally.

He's being hung out to dry and victimised to try and set an example. It's disgraceful. He's been a solid captain and defender for England and the spineless FA just seem to like trying to bitch slap him around.

He was found not guilty. Leave him alone.

There are much worse personalities to hate in the game, such as Bullard, the various arsewipes who did prison time, either of the Ferdinands etc.

Agree with Happy Clapper all the way. He was our best defender and he's still one of the best in the world in his position. He proved his doubters wrong at the Euros, though there was never much evidence to not rate him anyway. All because of a stupid ****ing race row, it's ridiculous.

Scholes retired from long before he should have, same with Paul Robinson (less high-profile I know but still seems daft) and now Terry. Thing is, England just isn't that prestigious any more. Everyone who plays for England is a **** and doesn't give a **** as soon as we lose a game, whereas at club level they are treated fairly by their fans and given a chance. It's hardly surprising that no ****er wants to play for England any more.

He actually played the best I'd seen him for England in the Euros. Would have been nice to see Jon Walters punch him in the gob yesterday when he was trying to stop him getting at Luiz. I agree though time to move on and build a new team and one less arsehole in it is a good start.

gonna sound against the grain . but suarez with less evidence got eight game ban, Terry has clear video evidence of it and in my opinion should get a worse ban and never play for England again , I think he has got wind of this and announced retirement to try and "save face" in light of the punishment he will get ..

the FA set their precedent with the evra and suarez case , they now need to adhere to those measures and Terry has a far clearer case to look at than the suarez case

I ****ing hate the guy personally but it doesn't stop the fact that the FA have been complete dicks to him for no real reason. He was found not guilty (for the record I think he was not guilty as well) so how can they continue to deal with the situation in this manner. The FA are a joke and have been for years

Suarez case is totally different daisy, he used a derogatory term where as terry just pointed out some facts, Ferdinand is black and most definitely is a ****

    Can understand Terry's decision here.

It seems the FA are above the Court of Law in this country.

At least they would like to think they are.

    Correct decision from Terry.

Anyone who thinks Terry is useless and over the hill just has no football nouse in my opinion, clearly by a country mile our best defender at the euros and obviously a few months later not good enough.

It does make me chuckle that so many on here in the past have said things about citys young side needing to be balanced with experience surely it's the same at all levels so Terry can help bring through some young English centre backs at the national level, but no he's useless now, pathetic,he will be missed.

Good footballer, **** person. I think he's been pretty consistent at both over the years.

He's only got himself to blame really, sure the FA have gone after him but when you consider the amount of headaches he's given them, and his tendency to reinforce the image most people have of footballers (poorly educated, arrogant, amoral and an all-round bellend) its hardly surprising that his misdeeds caught up with him in the end.

What the FA are doing is no different from the way lots of employers would handle a situation like this, so I don't go along with the 'he's a victim' line. Though clearly that's how he sees himself, poor deluded millionaire that he is.
In a criminal case the proof requirement for a conviction is far higher than in civil (eg employment) law - ie beyond reasonable doubt rather than balance of probabilities.
Its considered good practice to wait for the outcome of a criminal trial and then decide whether there is a need for action under terms of employment or whatever.
Suspect that Terry has been advised about the probable outcome of FA hearing and has made his own decision.

Have to disagree here. Suarez admitted what he said, he just didn't see anything wrong with it because thats how they talk back home, apparantly. Terry's case was a load of bollocks, which was proven to be a load of bollocks in a court of law, and if a fan from another team hadn't filed a complaint on Ferdinands behalf, would never have come to light.

He was easily our best player in Euro 2012 and his retirement will cause a decline for England.
We have a few average to decent central defenders at international level who can deal with average to decent forwards, but against the big teams you need someone with the experience and craft to dominate top strikers.
