How come certain types of behaviour on message boards are not only tolerated but encouraged yet the same behaviour in real life would make you a social out cast?

If someone has a stammer, nobody would point out every stuck syllable, yet a typo or spelling mistake is often pounced on.

If someone with what seems to a be mental impairment is nagging you in public, we're generally patient, yet on here, when the likes of lifecheshirewhite and ProudFox etc do the same, people tease and laugh at them.

How come it's acceptable if it's only written and anonymous?

"..anonymous...." is the operative. as i ve said before, message boards are summat to do whilst your having a dump. just like reading a paper or doing a crossword used to be. when the virtual and real worlds overlap, then that suggests a deformed character and is summat that could never happen with a word search.

When posters of their ilk ( = WUMs) come on here, to niggle and bait us - they are fair game and can be tackled in any way. IMO. :bandit:

I write in a totally different way to how I converse. (thats a perect example).

Theres three types, posters who like to bully others, the nitpickers and the ones who want to get their own back. They are daft if they think that they will always get away with it. But sometimes just to fit in you have to join in and thats when it goes tits up.
Twitter and Facebook postings have led to arrests. It will not belong before a forum such as this gets taken down because of some of its content. The chant thread last week is a perfect example. When posters realise that there is no freedom of speech and that they can only say what they want to because they are getting away with it for now.
That was my point last week, if you dare to say the things you say on here in public or to the person/s that they aimed at go ahead, if not dont post. That should be the rule here.

Dutch, you should have put a comma after "tolerated". :D

To be honest, I see forums as a reflection of football grounds. As old as I am, I've never understood why perfectly normal, and professional people, feel it's acceptable to shout some of the abuse and crap they do in grounds. They would never shout or say half the things they do to anyone's face in a one on one situation.

Well, some would of course, but that's what our legal system is for I guess.

Facebook and twitter is , on the whole quite well self policed .
Youtube is the worst mainstream social site there is by a loooong stretch .

Post a video of a kitten licking milk from a bowl and once you hit 1,000 hits the comments page will have either turned into a pointless debate on Justin Bieber , Race , Religion or why you qualify as being a "***".

Theres a lot on here that dangle their tacking in the murky docks of the Leeds , Leicester sites but cant take it when they come fishing on our plot (and vice versa ) those threads are just boring tho :p

Sites like this are great for info and breaking news. Sometimes it can get annoying looking for news when people go off-topic to what is on the threads themselves. I found that at the weekend with all the Leeds and Leicester fans on here talking **** everywhere there was a lack of content to read but I guess quite a few of our fans go over there and do the same to their pages so can't complain really.
