Since the 1st January 2012, this is how we stand on current form.

    Played: 24
    Won: 6
    Drawn: 10
    Lost: 8

    Goals for: 27
    Goals against: 28
    Goal Difference: -1

Okay, the main thing to gauge here is the fact we are only a *** paper away from turning this round in our favour, or losing it totally. A goal either way in those 10 draws, many which we have led and thrown it away, and we could see a far different SAFC, both better or worse.

We win and lose a similar amount of games and we score and concede similarly. We do have a real goal threat now these days and we have in Adam Johnson, a player that when fit, hopefully will give us an edge in games. Sessegnon is only at 50% and McClean at about 20% and if they can get up to speed I fancy the turn will be towards wins not draws or defeats.

However, in order to do this we have to adopt a far more positive approach to games in general and players like Sess, Johnson, Larsson and Gardener (when back in his proper attacking central midfield role) must step up to the plate starting against Wigan because the next league game after that at home is a fairly important one.

I think Wigan is a bigger game for you than playing us lot, its vital for confidence to get that first win as soon as possible. 7 points from 5 games after what was a tricky set of fixtures is not bad at all ( a solid start) but 4 or 5 points from 5 games would leave you still needing that jump start.

The derby is something else, ability/form/etc seems to go out of the window.

Team is work in progress until a fully fit one is produced. Losing only one third of the games during a lacklustre end to the season is understandable.

To be fair and after reading a lot of the posts on here we are fooked apparently, having said that a lot of the lads are just venting at losing 3 points in the last minute yet again something else for MON to sort out.
We are not doing well but, we are not doing badly so a bit of patience required and maybe a better doctor to sort out the injuries we seem to be still racking up, that for me is the main reason for our stuttering start to the season. After all that we have a midweek cup game which is there to be won (in my opinion) and, a winnable home game on Saturday we win those two and we'll all be back on track. We lose those two and the MONOBs will be out in force.

Its pointless comparing last season's games as O'Neill says, this season we are 4 games in (3 away from home) and unbeaten with our main striker banging them in.

We arn't playing that well and still picking up points and AJ still hasnt gelled into the team, so when we ultimately pick up our performances the wins will come and we still have a game in hand! How people can be furious and down beat already is mental, good to hear positivity on this thread though but like I say its absolutely tripe comparing last season to this.

FFS Cest. There have been other threads where we have already discussed our 'long term form', we don't need another. Most people have said that this is a new season and should be treated as such. The football club is a very different one to the club of last season. Just because a lot of posters didn't feel the need to massage your ego on that point, doesn't necessitate an entirely new thread for the same subject matter does it?!?!

with colback in midfield it will only get worse

he just can't provide the creative players with the balls they need...he passes them the ball when they are surrounded not in space

Whilst I am right behind MON - I did say before he was appointed that I did not want him coz of his style of football which is defensive counter-attack boring to watch footie.

Without sounding smug, I think I am being proved right.

I hope I am wrong though - No doubt I will be slated for this.

Only get slated by the ill informed mate most of us knew his style of play from the start. At Villa it worked well due to the quality of players he had he is still building his team with us so only time will tell. Nice to see you back on here Bart see you got shot of the Tourette's ;)

Erm......... I am pretty calm? I thought this thread was actually upbeat whilst just highlighting our form? I ended saying that I think we can turn these draws into wins?

**** off then and dont comment clever ****.

    No need to panic.

Now, on the other hand, if we lose to Wigan - PANIC!!
