Only for 30 years or so. I'm not sure what the nickname was before that - probably Magpies as we played in black & white for 15 years.

    Time for another change? ;)

I think I am one of the few who liked our out and out yellow and red. Probably partly because I associate it with some great times

I admit i don't like luton because we are local rivals, but still would respect the clubs decision if we bought the whole luton team

I wouldn't. In the past we have bought various individual ex-Luton players - which was perfectly acceptable as each proved to be worthy players. But we are in the Championship and they are now down in the non-League depths where they belong - and not doing particularly well at the moment either. So I would be somewhat miffed if we were to buy a whole team that can't even perform at that low level.

Are you sure it was yellow and black? Maybe my memory is playing tricks, but the first time I came back to England (mid 70's) after emigrating to Oz I noticed a big difference in the shirt colour - I'm positive the shirts were gold before I left and had at some point changed to the bright yellow we wear today.

They were certainly known as Gold - but quite where and what the difference has been is hard to tell

Yes, it was Yellow & Black - Red was added relatively recently (in the 80's I think) and the yellow was was very deep and could be called gold. Over time it became lighter and red was added.

Silly me - should have looked at my avatar! :emoticon-0111-blush

It's the shirt badge from 1968 & the shirt it is on certainly looks gold rather than yellow.

The change in colours was described as gold shirts, black shorts with a gold stripe down the side. The team were known as The Golden Boys until The Hornets was suggested. I think it was Elton who brought the red in with the shirts becoming more yellow as he wanted to brighten everything up.
