Based on your photograph, it's a red card each. Shelvey for going over the ball, Evans for coming in with both feet (notice he also makes contact with Shelvey's left leg.) A photograph from the reverse angle would probably make it look like Evans was committing more of a foul. The fact we're looking *with* Shelvey emphasises his portion of the foul.
I agree. It's just a shame Halsey never sent van Persie off, or gave Suarez the penalty, isn't it? I can only assume those are what you're referring to?...
Why does UIR keep going with this? He's even provided a GIF that disproves his argument. Well said Alan
I think Henderson looked good. He should come in for Shelvey, allowing Gerrard to play further forward.
Liverpool were terribly unlucky not to get anything from that game but also they should be really concerned that even arguably playing their best footy of the season so far could not put a few past a poor under par performing Utd side even before the sending off?? Did really well with 10 men though and dare I say It would have been better off parking the bus when you went Into the lead Id be suprised If the 1st win of the season doesnt come at Norwich..
It clearly doesnt. It clearly proves that Shelvey was dangerous. His foots above the ball and he catches Evans planted leg. Tell me, when have 2 players been sent off for the same challenge? I said it was harsh and I stand by that, the rules have changed and over the last few years that sort of tackle is going to get a red card. I frankly dont care about any Liverpool fans views right now, you are all clearly annoyed and not thinking straight. After a while you will look again and call Shelvey was a little bit stupid. Evans posed no danger to Shelvey and the same cannot be said of Shelvey on Evans.
Two footed, studs showing. Thanks for that gif uir, didn't realise Evans should have been sent off instead, until I saw that.
I agree he is probably the better player. But on Thursday it looked like he has bit more to go yet before he is back to full fitness.
Doesn't matter when it's happened. Evans is very smart to react to Shelvey's tackle in the way he did - it got him off any punishment. Shelvey shouldn't have lunged but he should not have been sent off. Just look again at the tackle. Evans is two footed, studs up. You can't argue that.
Which player is flying through the air lads? The bald headed one of the guy in white? If it had been the Evans in Shelveys position I think we all know how it would of played out on here. and before someone says United fans would be saying it wasnt a red, no, we would be pissed off and bitter but still know in retrospect it was a red.
"Evans posed no danger to Shelvey and the same cannot be said of Shelvey on Evans" Yes he bloody did, but that's not the point. As YOU have said, the rules have changed so that an uncontrolled tackle is deemed worthy of a straight red. Hell, Spearing was sent off against Fulham last season for far, far less, even though he cleanly won the ball. In fact, Johjo's wasn't even the worst tackle in this game. Have you the gif on Van Persie's yet?
"If it had been the Evans in Shelveys position I think we all know how it would of played out on here". Yeah, he'd have probably booked Suarez for diving.
Haha eloquently argued but I think you know what the correct decision was. After all, refereeing decisions are subjective, not obliquely factual.
If you watch the red card gif Evans looks like hes trying to side foot the ball. Not suggesting he was but just doesnt look dangerous.
He does catch Valencia a few times but imo a very soft penalty. Harsh but with our record I was surprised Liverpool were not celebrating. We almost missed it aswell
