Basically what the title says, Elliot impressed tonight and Harper looked a little aged the other night! Not sure who myself, would feel sorry for Harper if dropped though! Who would you guys pick?

Elliott, he impressed tonight and Harper looks like this is one season too many for him IMO. I think Harper should be kept on as part of the GK coaching team with Woodman.

I'd stick with Elliot. He's an amazing keeper! Was one of the players I was sad to see go, and would love to see him play more regularly at Newcastle. But then again, Pardrew is a c***!

Elliot definitely. On form Elliot is better, Harper is already at the stage where there are certain saves he can no longer make anymore.

We've only got two gk's atm

Elliot was great last night, but it's only one game! Before last night, people were either saying he was ****e or average.

Harper has proven himself reliable and consistent, and he was solid vs Everton. His reactions aren't as good as Krul's, but tbh, Harper still looks the best keeper we have at reading the game. Like when he came 20 yards off his line to intercept a ball vs Everton, that was fantastic. He's also extremely relaxed and cool.

I think Harper should keep the no 1 spot while Krul is out, and Elliot will get his chance in the European/cup games. Harper should play vs Norwich, Elliot vs Manure in the cup.

Harper deserves some games before his retirement, and he's good enough. He deserves it based on his loyalty, and his quality.

I respect your opinion. However I don't quite agree with your last statement. I think the team shouldn't be chosen on grounds of loyalty or just to get him games. Same goes for the Ba or Cisse debate. We all saw what happens when we play 2 strikers to keep them happy... The manager is paid to pick the team to win, not to pick the team for other purposes, so if Pards is to decide Harps or Elliot is to be the keeper, he should base it on merit. We don't have an idea how those 2 are in training, so granted both are in with a fighting chance to start. I just hope that whoever of the two starts, isn't overly troubled by Norwich's big men tactics(assuming we are indeed playing Norwich, didn't bother to check it yet).

I never said it should be based on loyalty, quality is what wins you games, and Harper still has the quality to be able to play, and he deserves the games because of his loyalty. It's the least he deserves.

As long as he's good enough and no one has proven they're better, then Harper should get the shout.

Sorry but one good game isn't enough for Elliot to claim the no 1 spot.

At least we can agree that the sooner Krul, our undisputed first choice keeper, comes back, the better for us.

Harper for me. Elliot was good, bar the big error near the end.

Great game by Elliot last night but would stick with Harper Sunday then Elliot Wednesday. Funny tho how everyone seemed to be slagging Elliot off before this. Not long since i commented on a post to give the lad a break. One dodgy game at Forest last year (which we won anyway) and people had him written off. Have people not learned from Perchinho etc. Support the lads to help them give their best.

    Got to age with Tash.

Harper has doen the job for us for over a decade. Elliot has had 90 good minutes.

Also, while Elliot looked very good at stopping shots last night, there were a couple of long balls forward where I expected him to come forward to collect (neither would have needed him to leave the box, so he could just have scooped them up) while instead he left it for the defended to try to win the foot race (which to be fair they did).

While Harper may not be a quick as he used to be, I'd rather have his experience that Elliot's s reflexes, even assuming that Elliot can do that regularly.

While Krul is out, give Elliot the Europa league games. If he continues to impress, then maybe he can put forward a claim to be Krul's back up. One game doesn't do it though

Elliot played well yesterday, but like many have said, it was his first good 90 minutes so far (and first 90 of competitive football in a year). Seeing as Elliot has never played in the PL, I'd stick with Harper for Norwich. Let Elliot gain more first team experience in EL & Cup games, building him up for when the time is right for the PL. Still could only ever see him as a back-up though.

One notable thing with Elliot is how much he has slimmed down. He looked a lot more agile for it.

It is a real tricky one for me. Harps has not done much wrong, but there is a suspicion that he may just be past his best. The problem with Elliot is it is one game. Keeping is a notoriously inconsistent trade. That's why solidity counts for a lot (Harps is exactly this) but you still need to make the big saves. I think they'll play safe and let Elliot continue his progress out of the glare of the PL, in the EL and cups. I don't envy the decision.

Feel more relaxed about the goalkeeping situation now I know Elliot is a capable keeper, he looked a different player all together on Thursday.
It would be more beneficial to build him up gradually, both in confidence and playing time, rather than throw him in at the deep end.

Hold my hands up on this one, I was wanting Elliott to play. Although Harper didn't have loads to do he was very assured and calm in everything he did, made a good save right after half time and you could see he was in command of the box, very vocal too.

Me too. But I disagree, he had a lot to do. Had a few 1 on 1 saves as well

Harper was very good, with what he had to do today.
