A few weeks ago, a few people on here were aghast that we missed out on Laudrup. A comment about bribing other teams, followed by a match that made it look like Cardiff fans paid a contribution to the Old etonions Retirement Fund yesterday, would anyone be so quick to say he should have been brought in now? Also, sad face... please log in to view this image
We were the better side throughout apart from a brief spell in the 2nd half. We were worthy winners and better than Stoke in every aspect. Sure they played better than Reading and Newcastle, but to beat a side like us at home you have to do better than that. Luiz's challenge was reckless but it wasn't intentional, however my first thought was that it should have been a red card. It seems odd you are quick to jump to the defence of Stoke given the outrageous refereeing decisions they had against you last season.
I kind of know all that thanks all the same, and once again you immeditely jump to an unnecessary comparison with ourselves. Why do you do this? I was only talking of your start, preferring to avoid ours as we have not made the most of our softish start.
I didn't mean to compare but just wanted to emphasise Newcastle are a good side. Being a Chelsea fan I'd much rather play harder teams early on, in more recent times we've tended to do well when we've had the so called bigger teams early on i.e beating Liverpool at Anfield, United at home but then lose to Coventry and co
I suggest you remove your blue tinted specs, and look again. It was a diabolical "challenge" so late that if you saw it on Hacney Marshes on a Sunday morning, you'd be shocked. I don't believe for one second that a top professional could make a tackle like that unless it was intentional. It was also two footed, and could very easily have broken the guy's leg. One of the clearest red cards you'll see all season. I only saw the highlights of your game. From chances created, Stoke were your equals, and will be disappointed not to get a point.
The highlights were skewed to favour Stoke, they waited till 19 minutes to show the first chance (which was suprise surprise a Stoke chance) even though we'd come close 2 or 3 times before then, we were on top throughout but Stoke created some good chances through set plays. Luiz is reckless and clumsy but he isn't a dirty player. It was a red card for me as I said but in no way was it intentional. Luiz cynically tried to stop Stoke breaking after a ridiculous corner that went wrong.
In what way was it unintentional, DL? It's not like he slipped as he went into it or something. He slid in with both feet, studs up in a blatant attempt to take out his opponent to stop Stoke from breaking. Was he trying to injure Walters? Probably not, but it was a rash, dangerous challenge and a cynical foul, too. The ref was probably still dazed from being put on his arse in the first half or something.
United are dreadful, at the moment. I hope they play this badly when we face them, because I fancy our chances on ripping them a new one.
The thing is no matter how well we play I think we will get done by the ref...once again he gets the limelight the basterd. Somebody tell AVB he can have the keys to Tottenham if he gets us our first win against United since Jesus was a season ticket holder.
I know that we are all Spurs supporters but that doesn't mean to say that we have to share the same ideals does it? I'm very saddened to see Liverpool where they are. That might go against the Spurs grain but there it is. I've never seen them or their supporters as enemies like the goons and others and I'm going to abstain from Liverpool comments. Sorry lads.
that is fair play TMT....i grew up with a bunch of Liverpool fans and i cant stand the way they think they still are the dogs bollocks and how they all latched onto glory hunting back in the 80 as little nippers..not much humility..only the shame of their demise makes them shut up..however im only talking about the ones i know.. saw one yesterday and his first remark was 'haha how did you do against Lazio...we hammered Young Boys..Jonjo shelvey was running the show' purleeeeeeese!
Spurlock,he's just sounding off, clutching at straws. Yes they do still think they're the dogs bollox because old habits and attitudes die very hard but they were a joy to watch once. Sorry,I can't mock them.
Arsenal are 1-0 down to £ity. It numbs some of the pain caused by how badly we are playing against QPR.
No it doesn't. They have nothing to do with us and this situation we are in. I hope that this will be a tale of two halves. NO positives will come out of a defeat or a draw here.
