We could even have Richardson on the left and Clyne on the right. Richardson's got a good left foot on him if I remember correctly.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. We would be stupid not to start the same team that began the second half against Everton
Clyne was better on the left than he has ben on the right. Doesn't run into Puncheon on the left. The Left is much more free with Lallana and Lambert working off each other.
I don't know how long term it can go like this, I actually feel completely ignorant as we have had such a mixed bag of results!!! I mean are our defence really bad or just a little naive? Yes we have taken both Manc teams to the wire with 3-2 results but we have also been steam rolled by arsenal and smashed Villa. I liked the way the back 4 finished today, I thought they were superb, whether Adkins hold his nerves with it I have no idea....hope so!!!!
Clyne didn't have that bad a left foot when he had to use it. I know he is a professional footballer, but it's surprising how many can't use both feet. He did look a little uncomfortable at times and I would be reluctant to make it a permanent fixture. After the 1st half one point I made to my mate was the lack of delivery from Clyne and that's been pretty much the case all season. Richardson and Butterfield supplied many goals from deep crosses but Clyne seems to want to get to the byline all the time.
I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that Richardson is the best defender we have in the squad. I'm probably going to get some stick for this, but I could write an article on why I believe this is the case.
You should write that article. His best game i've seen was home to Leeds last season when he sent Gradel and Snodgrass packing. I'd like to read your thoughts in detail on Frazer.
Isn't football about different opinions! The only critique I give of Clyne is that I think he never tries to get to the bye-line. I haven't once seen him go passed a full back; he runs forward and then either plays it to Punch or inside to Morgan. I'd like to see him dribble beyond the full back and then deliver a cross. Funny old game football, we all see it differently.
Morning FLT! My memory may be playing tricks but I'm fairly certain he did that regularly for Palace.
Fox's set piece/assist ratio last year was good. I think there was a game when we scored 3 goals and he had the assist for all three. He is just not doing it this year though. I thought he looked on a different wavelength to the other team yesterday. Also, that moment when he decided he could take a touch instead of hoofing it out of danger was unforgivable.
I felt he started cutting in more from the left hand side as well. That, and his pace, was one factor in taking apart the Villa defence.
I'm not one for openly criticising individuals, but rather praising them. But I have mentioned before that I've never been convinced by Fox. I think this is why, back in the Championship, Dan Harding had so many fans. You knew what you were getting. I have a lot of time for Richardson. His ability to deliver a precise ball is extremely good, and he is another FB where you know what you are getting. Dependable, is the word. Yesterday Clyne was every bit as effective on the left as he is on his natural right side. Indeed, so confident was he that he stole into the opposition penalty box and scored. That's real confidence in what you're doing. Adkins made a couple of proper starting changes yesterday. Yoshida for Hooiveld and Gazziniga for K.Davis. My bet is that they'll stay in place, for a while and Clyne will go to LB, with Richardson at RB. The others will sit on the bench to think.
