Great signing, seems a strange time to make it considering Nigel only jsut made the big decision to drop Kelvin, does that mean Davis is now 3rd choice?
Gazzaniga had a fairly easy game today, although I am pleased it was a good result on his debut. Davis has been a loyal servant to the club, he has made poor mistakes in the past but he has also made a lot of good saves. As we have proved today, we can do well against most of the other teams in this division but Man U, C and Arsenal early on was likely to cause problems and Davis has already saved two penalities this season.
I dont think kelvin has been dropped just a bit of rotation, this probably means that gazzaniga will go out on loan and be pulled back if there is an injury, so will probably be kelvin vs Boruc
Eitherway, I hope we don't rotate our goalkeeper too much, will be interesting to see who start against Wednesday.
Said the other day I still felt we needed an experienced keeper. Boruc is just that, proven himself at Celtic and Fiorentina. Polish mate who is nuts about football says Boruc is a quality keeper - and he's surprised we've got him, but he can be a bit of a nutter. Welcome Saint Artur.
I hope Gazzaniga does still play he is a brilliant keeper so happy I got to see him at Gillingham he is one of the best keepers to play for us. I hope he claims a place in the first team permanently like he did last season for us when Fliney was off form, he is good at coming in when the number one is doing bad and holding down the place from what I see of him.
From the way Adkins said as a third goalkeeper, suggests more to me as a backup rather than first choice Just the way I interpreted it
I interpreted it as the third senior keeper in the club (Cropper doesn't really count). I think it's far too early to say who the starter will be.
Gazza may have had a fairly easy game but he did make a good save early second half before we started scoring and one that Kelvin might not have made as he seems to get beaten at the near post too often.
We could always let Kelvin join the numbers of footballers that have played for us and our friends down the road. A month or two on loan with a proviso that we can pull him back if needed.
Cracking signing on a free. I presume that he can still be registered in the squad at this stage.... Now for a left back in January and it all becomes clear........
I don't want to say "I told you so" as I don't want to be a t**t but everybody got on my back a bit when I said KD wasn't up to it, I thought some may have thought it was personal to him.....it wasn't, just want to say he is a great loyal servant and valuable member of the team....however I think maybe I can take some assurances in my views in that Adkins has obviously shared them regarding our current GK situation! I thought Gazzaniga was solid today although not particularly busy however surely now with the signing of Boruc this now spells the end of KD? Sorry guys I know he has his fans and believe me when I say I hope he stays around, great loyal part of Saints fc but I want us to stay in the prem and with Davis we will not! Great win today!! COYR
From what I've just read players can't be registered after 31st August until the next transfer window so he can't be registered until January. Someone will have to confirm this as I'm not certain but I'm quite sure about this from what I've read. Actually it's fine as he was out of contract and a free agent like Michael Owen.
