I just think he deserves his own little mention tonight. He has had a bit of a torrid time of late, but I thought he had a good game today. He did ok second half at Arsenal and today dealt well with a couple of tough opponents.

    Well done, Jose Fonte Baby!

I thought he was very good today. Looked to have a good partnership with Yoshida developing. Good to see people thinking the same, hope he can turn around the mindsets of some fans who have already written him off.

Stats indicate he's done much better than Hooiveld this season.

He's been miles better than Hoovield without even factoring this game into the equation. Hoovield has looked so clumsy and nervy. The defence look so much more calm and solid today (apart from Fox!)

Loved Jose since our league one promotion . I think he's good enough for this level. Found it interesting that he was more than capable of handling Bent's pace

Thought Fonte and Maya were both very good today, but to be fair, Villa made it easy for them by just playing basic straight up floated hoof balls all game which even the worst of premier league centre backs (not that I'm saying they are) should be able to deal with. They handled themselves well but weren't really challenged that much, but can't fault them at all.

He was immense in a tricky first half and showed tremendous composure under pressure and snuffed out a lot of Villa attacks, well done Jose!

As one of those fans that was questioning his ability for the Premiership I am quite happy to see him do well. Though I think he has taken to Maya and it looks as if we just might have found a new pairing at centre of defence that will enable us to continue to move forward.

Infact Gaston has also made a huge difference as well and looks strong enough for the physical side as well as having tremendous skill.

Fonte was excellent today. Next Sat at Everton will be a much tougher test and cant wait to see how our new back line get on there.

Yeah he was pretty bad for large portions of last season but he's started this season looking like his old self, and Yoshida looked pretty comfortable too. Amazingly, it's easier to defend against Villa than Arsenal!
