The flip side of that of course is that for half the season, there's possibly an empty seat and I know several others in your position. I think the rugby have some sort of scheme in operation for pass holders missing games, but now we're computerised, I wonder if there's an option for the club to re-sell your seat if you let them know you can't make it. Generally the passes would individual seats in the better areas, so it could be a way to recoup some of the money for letting blocks in the NW corner go cheap. There's have to be some incentive to the passholder too, but again, the computerised system should make this straightforward.
We had the system previously where if you told them in advance they'd resell your seat and give you £10 credit against your ticket for the following season. I've used it a few times in the last few years, but also just let the guy next to me bring his kid on my ticket.
Was it a Brans'urm thing? I guess the 'free' queue was quite a long one anyway? Still the kaleidoscope of track-suit and trainer colours would have brightened the wait
Totally agree - as a passholder in East Stand also I don't have a problem discounting prices - my two daugthers want to go and this will help them out - for me buying my pass shows my commitment to the Club whilst affording me the convenience to sit in my seat and not having to buy tickets on a game by game basis. The increase has been marginal after years of holding prices down and feel the reason many have not renewed has been due to PL plastics going into temporary hiding, apathy after a decade of success and tepid home displays for whatever reason in the past two years - had we continued on an upward spiral I am sure the money would not be an issue.
Still hitting the Bransholme thing then. No it was North Hull in the 70's mussy and the first track suit i got was when i signed for Mettoy United and we were given em for signing.
it was never like that at pocklington. or was it Boophry Estate. i dont rembember. incidentally we are probably of similar age was mettoy one of fred ramsden's teams?
Indeed it was associated with Fred and Norman Ingram, but Joe Madden of Smoky Joes in baccer market fame was the manager. Top blokes all of them.
If people are moaning about it on Facebook, one way of doing a discount could be for the club to send a 20% off discount voucher to season pass holders to give to who ever they like. That way at least people can't moan as it's then not the club making the decision to give reduced ticket prices, but the season pass holders choice.
It's best for the club to get as many fans in as possible. This kind of 'backlash' on the facebook page is ridiculous. Every other club does these deals and at one point I didn't think we'd be doing these at all, I really can't see what they're complaining about. Here's a question though: when they did this deal last year (I think it was the Reading and Portsmouth games) they said on the OWS something like "Don't worry season ticket holders, there will be an offering to you shortly." Did that 'offering' ever happen?
I definitely remember there being something offered to us last season, I can't remember what or whether it was specifically season ticket holders but I remember there being something that I could get but was of no use to me. As such I'd guess it was either an extra discount to help them shift the crap shirts with the even crappier sponsor or it was something like a discount on Tiger Travel for a game.
i dont have a problem with it, what people need to remember tho when the say pass holders get the benefit of discounted prices etc.. is that we are also contributing our cash and support whether we win the league or are rock bottom in january with 0 points and a minus 50 goal difference....which if ever was the case i doubht these people would be interested in a ticket- discounted or not
You don't think people would be interested in coming and seeing some goals and having a good old moan about how **** we were?
FC used to have a scheme where if you missed a home game you could swap the voucher for a match ticket to a game other than Rovers but it was finished for the start of this season and there was hell on! I'm all for offering discounts, but if we offer too many people won't then pay the whole price and it devalues the product as a whole. I think with some clever marketing and other benefits the crowds can rise. A quick idea I've not really thought through is if you buy 5 home games in a row on a customer reference number (most people have them) then the 6th game will be free/massively reduced.
I dont mind if the club discounts unsold tickets, as this benefits the team, the club and in some way me as a full stadium adds to the matchday experience. I,m a pass holder so I have already got a full season of discounted prices anyway. To the people that are whinging about it, why dont you ditch your pass next year and take your chances waiting for discounted tickets, even with cheaper tickets I would imagine your football would still work out dearer then buying a season pass
Other people benefiting does not diminish your own enjoyment - if anything, it increases your enjoyment because there would be a better atmosphere.
