Rose will let Sunderland chief decide how he blooms CATS DEBUT ... Danny Rose in action against Liverpool. By CHRIS YOUNG Published on Friday 21 September 2012 09:56 DANNY Rose will let Martin OâNeill decide his best position after shaking off the injury which brought a premature end to his Sunderland debut. Rose is expected to continue at left-back for tomorrowâs trip to West Ham after returning to training earlier this week from the minor groin strain he suffered in last weekendâs draw with Liverpool. The 22-year-old has been used equally at full-back or on the left-hand side of midfield at parent club Spurs and for the England under-21s. But Rose was signed by Sunderland on a season-long loan, primarily as a replacement for the departed Kieran Richardson at left-back, and he will happily fulfil that role. Rose told the Gazette: âI donât mind playing left-back or left-wing. âIâm in no position at this stage of my career to dictate where I want to play. âI just want to get a run of games, and if itâs left-back, then Iâll be more than happy. âI canât express how much it means to me to come to Sunderland. The manager could have got a left-back with more experience and a lot older. âIâm just grateful he chose me.â Roseâs competitive outings this season consisted of just two appearances for the Under-21s before his Sunderland debut, which ended with 20 minutes to go when he limped off. But tomorrowâs clash with the Hammers is the first of three games within a week for OâNeillâs side, who travel to MK Dons in the Capital One Cup third round on Tuesday night. Rose believes that run of fixtures will see him quickly reach match fitness after missing Tottenhamâs first two games of the campaign through suspension. âNow weâve got Saturday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday so thereâs a great run of games,â he said. âThere were a couple of injuries last weekend so even the subs and people who werenât involved can get a few minutes. âThe under-21 games do help, but theyâre nothing compared to the standard you play in the Premier League. âI was suspended for the first two games of the season so I havenât really played that much. âI didnât want to go into the Liverpool game and end up being tired after half an hour. âI wanted to find my feet, and I thought I got better as the game wore on. âItâs just a shame I got injured.â Nice read pleasing to know he's so keen
I think given time and a bit of coaching he could be a very useful LB for us mate, that's if we decide to take him on.
He's made noises about a contract so he's obviously keen. Getting southerners to come oop North is always tricky, so this is a massive head start. Hope he lives up to his billing.
i believe he comes from doncaster which is not far from sunderland, in fact he could travel every day if nessesary.
I for one was pleased we got him. The more I hear from the young lad the more I like him. Sounds like a very grounded individual. He also is quick to get up and support JMc, so as soon as JMc learns he doesn't have to run through brick walls and he can use him for wall passes, the sooner we will see the best of both of them.
I like the rhetoric coming from this young lad. Could be just what we need. Enthusiasm & keeness he has in abounds.
As you clearly know nothing about football, as is evidenced by your previous posts. Your opinion is null and void!
Did a good job of stopping sterling the other day face it he's ****e. You'll be on his back in a few weeks as the excitement of him being a new signing wears off.
Has Chiek gone on holiday? Whoreberry isn't very good at this, especially when he doesn't have that numpty Rancid to copy off.
Not sure about Chekky, maybe the gang of three has split up. Strawberry, as you say isn't very good without his marra Stinking Feet who I do get a chuckle out of from time to time.
Oy! Don't you know it is wrong to chuckle at the mentally disadvantaged? At least the Strawboy doesn't seem to have the staying power of CTR. CTR would have had at least 12 posts on here by now. Unless Strawboy's neighbours have turned off their internet.
I think it's just a simple case of Check been given the leather belt off his daddy, had his lap top impounded & been grounded for a week.
