Firstly, I commend Goochie's efforts on a weekly basis, and I hope the club/board mods/or some bugger will acknowledge the effort by coming up with a trophy for the winner at the end of the season. Even if its just a pair of Goochie's old socks, summat should be presented. Anyway, I find it interesting that early run-away James Chester and other last season favourites are starting to fade on a week-by-week basis as we realise that there is life after Barmby. It isn't even as if Chester's performances are getting notably worse. I wonder how long it will be before we are saying: "Barmby Who?" and "Adam Who?" Fickle football fans eh?
Thanks mate, as long as I remember I'll keep doing it through the season. Chester is still second, and picking up votes, but I think because of the way we look going forward attacking players will always be remembered more for their performances.
Goochie's MotM competition has been a success and Chester hasn't run away with it so Barmby and Pearson were ****? I don't get it.
^ Me neither. Personally I'll never say "Barmby who?" or "Pearson who?" as they are both hugely influencial people in getting our club where it is today and I will forever be grateful to them for that.
i think chester sometimes suffers from being so good, ive voted for faye and bruce when theyve had decent games and stood out, when chester has probably been just as good, its just the norm tho so doesnt seem worthy of a vote...
Completely agree with that, i think Chester has been just as good but we now expect it where as Faye and Bruce are new and we are more surprised at their performances. Cheers Gooch for this
I'd agree that his performances have been the same, but I think rather than being other players surprising us with good performances it's more that now he's in a team full of good players rather than being one of three or four in the team his faults/weaknesses are more noticeable than they used to be. It was only the last week or so that I saw a thread specifically questionning him for his aerial deficiencies costing us goals but there were a few games last year where the same thing happened.
