Rose will let Sunderland chief decide how he blooms
CATS DEBUT ... Danny Rose in action against Liverpool.

DANNY Rose will let Martin O’Neill decide his best position after shaking off the injury which brought a premature end to his Sunderland debut.

Rose is expected to continue at left-back for tomorrow’s trip to West Ham after returning to training earlier this week from the minor groin strain he suffered in last weekend’s draw with Liverpool.

The 22-year-old has been used equally at full-back or on the left-hand side of midfield at parent club Spurs and for the England under-21s.

But Rose was signed by Sunderland on a season-long loan, primarily as a replacement for the departed Kieran Richardson at left-back, and he will happily fulfil that role.

Rose told the Gazette: “I don’t mind playing left-back or left-wing.

“I’m in no position at this stage of my career to dictate where I want to play.

“I just want to get a run of games, and if it’s left-back, then I’ll be more than happy.

“I can’t express how much it means to me to come to Sunderland. The manager could have got a left-back with more experience and a lot older.

“I’m just grateful he chose me.”

Rose’s competitive outings this season consisted of just two appearances for the Under-21s before his Sunderland debut, which ended with 20 minutes to go when he limped off.

But tomorrow’s clash with the Hammers is the first of three games within a week for O’Neill’s side, who travel to MK Dons in the Capital One Cup third round on Tuesday night.

Rose believes that run of fixtures will see him quickly reach match fitness after missing Tottenham’s first two games of the campaign through suspension.

“Now we’ve got Saturday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday so there’s a great run of games,” he said.

“There were a couple of injuries last weekend so even the subs and people who weren’t involved can get a few minutes.

“The under-21 games do help, but they’re nothing compared to the standard you play in the Premier League.

“I was suspended for the first two games of the season so I haven’t really played that much.

“I didn’t want to go into the Liverpool game and end up being tired after half an hour.

“I wanted to find my feet, and I thought I got better as the game wore on.

    “It’s just a shame I got injured.”

Nice read pleasing to know he's so keen

I think given time and a bit of coaching he could be a very useful LB for us mate, that's if we decide to take him on.

He's made noises about a contract so he's obviously keen. Getting southerners to come oop North is always tricky, so this is a massive head start. Hope he lives up to his billing.

I for one was pleased we got him.
The more I hear from the young lad the more I like him.
Sounds like a very grounded individual.
He also is quick to get up and support JMc, so as soon as JMc learns he doesn't have to run through brick walls and he can use him for wall passes, the sooner we will see the best of both of them.

As you clearly know nothing about football, as is evidenced by your previous posts.
Your opinion is null and void! <ok>

    Has Chiek gone on holiday?
Whoreberry isn't very good at this, especially when he doesn't have that numpty Rancid to copy off. :p

Strawberry, as you say isn't very good without his marra Stinking Feet who I do get a chuckle out of from time to time.

    Oy!
Don't you know it is wrong to chuckle at the mentally disadvantaged? :p

At least the Strawboy doesn't seem to have the staying power of CTR.
CTR would have had at least 12 posts on here by now.
Unless Strawboy's neighbours have turned off their internet. :)
