Kilkenny for a few days, then over to a tiny place called "camp" just passed Tralee on the West coast. My wife has lots of family there. We popped up to Dublin too, as we went to Croke Park for the All Ireland Hurling semi-final... amazing sport that is.

Jesus you really were out in the sticks, weren't you :p Hurling is a pretty cool sport. Unfortunately where I'm from, it's not only barely played, but it's derided and basically any GAA property is vandalised or destroyed. The joys of living in deep loyalist territory.

too many Yanks going "awww aint it cute". Where my wife's cousin lives is on a peninsular sticking out the west coast and it is stunning. Killarney is ok really, just teasing.

I go to the North with work fairly often. The history fascinates me and I am looking for some good books to read about it so I can understand it better. Problem is that any book is usually really bias. Can you or you folks recommend any good reading on the topic?

Just looked to see where you are... isn't that en route to the Bushmills Distillery?

I'm not up on it much myself either, as I wasn't exactly surrounded by it as a kid due to growing up in Southampton and then moving over to NI when it was all winding down. If I can find anything I'll let you know.

The Bushmills Distillery is further up north from me, about 30-40 minutes or so away.

It's fairly easy to get to. Just follow the signs to Coleraine/Portrush and you'll find it. Or if you want something really interesting, you could take the Coast Road as it takes you directly to Bushmills, although that would probably take double the time.

I went to Lisdoonvarna in County Clare last year for a Geography Field trip, beautiful place on the West Coast and nearby 'The Burren' is where Tolkien dreamed up 'The Lord of the Rings' having been inspired by the awe-inspiring landscapes. Also did some work at Fanore where parts of 'Father Ted' was filmed, pretty awesome place. Oh and the Guinness out there is so much nicer then it is over here but bloody hell... feel like you've eaten a full Roast with all the trimmings after a pint or two!

It is often known as "the drink that's good for you" because it's full of iron, and many studies claim it's good for your heart.

It's pretty cool. Be careful in Larne though, it's a proper hole.
