Nelsen: No regrets swapping Tottenham for QPR
The New Zealand international defender insists that he was right to move across London in order to link up with former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes at Loftus Road
QPR defender Ryan Nelsen insists that he has no regrets over swapping White Hart Lane for Loftus Road as he prepares to face Tottenham for this first time since moving on over the summer.

The 34-year-old did not wait around to find out who would come in to replace Harry Redknapp at Spurs and left to join up with Mark Hughes, whom he played under at Blackburn Rovers.

He told the Fulham Chronicle: "I could've probably stayed at Tottenham. Mark came in pretty early on and Tottenham were changing managers.

"They pretty much said they would like me to stay but they didn't have a manager at the time. I couldn't wait for that so when Mark came in it was a no-brainer.

"I loved my time at Spurs. It's a classy club from the chairman to the kitman. I enjoyed every minute of it and it was a great experience.

"But I've got no regrets the way things turned out. I couldn't be happier at QPR. I'm looking forward to going back and hopefully getting a good result against them.

"You always want them to do well apart from when you play them, but we want to win every game, and Tottenham will be no different

This man is rapidly becoming a firm fans' favourite and on the way to becoming a QPR legend! Top man.

He was the same for us...seems like a genuine bloke in a game full of arseholes.

Not one criticism of his conduct, never complained and I'm glad he's at a club where he will genuinely get a chance for first team football.

I was there Nelson the day you scored your one and only goal for us!

Good luck from Monday onwards <ok>

All jokes aside, probably fair to say that Aussies and Kiwis don't mince words and what you see is what you get ............. no crap, just being fair dinkum and that is appreciated by the majority.

Great post Spurlock, thanks for coming on here to say that. You are obviously a great fan and supporter of a great club. We have taken Ryan to our hearts really quickly...a really honest player.

Here's to a great match on Sunday, may the best team win. And I hope Ryan has a stormer

The jury was out for me, when we signed him..but in such a short itme he has proved his worth as a player and a man..

Straight talking, honest down to earth player. Gonna be a massive favourite if he stays fit.

i think the guy is great...few more performances lie last week and he'll be up for player of the season already....!! Thinking mans Clint Hill....!!

This is the type of player we want around our club...such a shame he isnt 10 yrs younger !!!

I think we all had a similar reaction to Nelson's signing as to when Derry joined, somewhat underwhelmed. But what a player Derry turned out to be for us, so hopefully Nelson will have the same impact.

My only issue with him is, and it's not one we should turn a blind eye to, why does he persist in deliberately mis-spelling his own surname?
