the last 2 times we've been in the UEFA Cup / Europa League under Harry we charged full ticket prices and put out pretty much unknown teams ... a lot to pay to watch reserves ... this team was a surprise as they are all first teamers
Think we played well...kept going the whole match against a pretty decent team and 2 of the 3 goals we had disallowed should have counted.
Thought we played well, officials were cak. Fair result. Looks like Maribor will be tough, 3-0 v Panathanikos
Well we succeeded in bringing Lazio's winning run to a halt and we should have won that 2-0 so I'm hopeful. We're getting a bit of bad luck, let's just get that lucky break but meanwhile we'll just have to keep plugging away until it comes.
Well there's the three times we put the ball in the net and the time Lennon was barged off the ball which could easily have been a pen. Four yellows for them shows how difficult we were to keep up with, although I have no idea how Cabanda didn't get booked at least once as well. They didn't really threaten apart from the crossbar, which admittedly was very close. All in all not too bad. They've had a good start to their season and are one of the better teams in the competition, and I would argue on tonight's evidence we are better than them.
I thought we played well with more options in attack and full of ideas. Unlucky with decisions and should have recorded the win, I don't think it's a fair result with two decent goals ruled out but that's Europe.
Very frustrating game. Typical old school Italian performance from Lazio, focused on defending and making a lot of cynical fouls, with the odd bit of filth thrown in. I can forgive the marginal offsides, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with Caulker's goal and Klose clearly fouled Dempsey (I think) in the box just prior to that, which made it even worse. Not a bad result, but we really could've done with a win. On the plus side I thought that there were a number of impressive performances, we looked largely solid at the back and we were the better side. Lloris had a good debut, despite not having a lot to do and going for a bit of a wander near the end, Sandro was solid, Naughton put in a good show at left-back and Lennon frequently scared the crap out of them. On a different night we'd have come away with a win.
Pisss poor ref,I knew we were in bother when I spotted that twat Platini. Interestingly new. Keeper and clean sheet, nice problem for AVB. As I said before the match Lennon has no confidence, good at sprinting though!
Good assessment PnP. I thought Naughton did very well as he hasn't had any European experience and he easily held his own. Overall good performance without getting the rub of the green, hopefully we will in more important matches.
lennon should have smashed it towards the near post when he was through. Gervinho stuck one away for Arsenal at the weekend in a very similar position. That's the frustrating thing with Lennon he does so much good things and works really hard but just doesn't score enough goals.
it was no surprise to me that we played a strong team AVB has been clear about our intentions we played really well against 14 players an absolute ****ing disgrace what went on tonight to me Spurs and AVB walk out with their heads held high Lazio were a disgrace, but only because the officials let them be like that i don't actually blame lazio - i blame the officials 100% PS I've never been a big fan of lennon, and once again he showed why he wouldn't be in my 'first XI' and defoe again failed as a lone striker - so that's 4 times out of 5 he's proved me right this season but overall i'm backing avb on our latest two displays including this one- Oh and Lloris was supreme - so I'm 'naive' for thinking he's world class - I don't think so - and no good at dealing at crosses - i don't think so again on that display can't wait to discuss this again with OS
Good game - on another night that woulda been a 2 or 3-0 win. I think the clean sheet was really important as well.
Match summary and a short highlight video in very good quality are already up on the ITV site. http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2012-09-20/match-highlights-spurs-0-0-lazio/? Why the hell did they have Robbie Fowler and Gordon Strachan as the pundits, though?
