Not too disappointed. Elliott, Bigi, Shola and even Gosling did themselves a few favours tonight. That was pretty much a reserve team against a team that's 5th in their league.

Can't see why the fans should put themselves out to watch a team that the club doesn't give a toss about. It's mad, they play all year to get into Europe then don't seem to care about it.

We did ok, draw your away games in Europe and win at home. Clean sheet and a point.
Some decent performances on a very dodgy pitch in some stinking heat. Bigi, gosling, Shola and Elliott all looked good.

Feels really weird watching a game with so little input from the supporters, not enough from the home team to create an atmosphere in the stadium.

Am I the only one that feels that the squad was always going to be weakest for this game? There's almost 3,500 miles of travelling. So for Bordeaux and Bruges away I expect to see stronger teams put out.

Fair do's for the fans that turned out, they deserved better than what they had to watch

Agreed, I hoped some of the squad players I am usually criticizing (Gosling, Willo, Obertan) would show they want to play for the club.

They looked like they don't want to play Football period. Vuckic looked average and unable to impose himself despite being given an advance position.

Shola is still finding his feet again which explains his lack of sharpness and Sammy has been out for a long while and was ineffective.

Amalfitano, although he is a central playmaker playing on the left he looks a train wreck in terms of talent.

On the good side, Rob Elliot played by far his best game for us and Gael Bigirimana played very well.

Good point away from home. Draw your away games won your home and your laughing. I think we will see a stronger side put out in our home ties

To be fair we hit the woodwork 3 times and had other chances, hardly a dull 0 - 0 draw. Newcastle deserved to win tonight. We will get through this group.

Thought we hit the woodwork more than three times.

Anyway, a draw away from home means they've got to come at us and I think we're more than capable of winning at home.

A draw and a clean sheet in Europe is decent

Think we are capable of winning 3 home games and who knows maybe in Brugge.

I thought this was a mini league where the draw is only 1 point,

    1 Bordeaux 1 4 3
    2 Maritimo 1 0 1
    3 Newcastle 1 0 1
    4 Club Bruges 1 -4 0

And winning our home game means we'll have 4 points, I think we're more likely to win it than not.

Crowd: 4,000 - which officially included 83 visiting fans but around 140 were in the away section with tickets available at the ground for 20 Euros pre-match.

The support we did have still made more noise than the home fans.

Think it will be the toughest home game of the lot.
