If there was a Posting of the week, Id hope this would win, very well said Twiffy. I was slightly surprised this thread was still going seeing as others have been shut down but I guess if a mod's arguing in it, it's fine. These types of threads sadden me.
I support your thoughts and views on the OP but really you should of done something at the time instead of coming on here bleating about it. Same goes for the Charlton incident. I have no reason to doubt that either incident took place and in both cases is completely wrong. There are ways and means of dealing with such things and it does not include ignoring it at the time and then coming on here to tell us all about it. If there are more ignorant and childish people on here than you thought, then you maybe havn't previously given that much thought. As for your last paragraph, take it up with the mods?
Anyone remember City V York going back in time and all the Bananas being thrown onto the pitch when Yorks black strikers come up to the south stand end .. Course I never threw any..
Do you remember City fans doing the munich song and aeroplane gestures at Old Trafford in 1987? Not just one or two either.
in answer to the question on why this thread hasn't been closed yet others were, the others were political with minimal City reference or just tumbled to childish personal abuse and no discussion. This one has a direct City and board reference and is generally well behaved.
I always thought the McKechnie is better than yashin song was quite offensive to poor old Lev. I should have wrote to the HDM about it, but i didn't. I still get the occasional pang of guilt over it.
So that makes it ok then? Well sadly judging by a fair few posters on here, they seem to think it does. Back to the OT and the first post, if I'd been there I would have video'd them on my phone, then spoken to the police about them. That or trial by YouTube which works just as well these days.
On a positive note it was only 5 out of 2000. Pretty good really. Must have been a full turn out of the CI massive!!
It makes it a long-established part of attending football matches, indulged in by countless thousands over several decades. I'm no expert but I think it may be that those chants and taunts are designed to annoy/offend/wind up the opposing team. Crazy, I know!
I am not sure you are right there. I cannot see one post in support of the people who the op is complaing about. Yes, these songs/chants have been about for years and have been a part of football since I started watching Hull City. It does not make them right in any way. There are lines that shouldn't be crossed but some people will. It's about how it is dealt with. As for the way the thread turned into a minor slanging match, is anyone surprised?
