Say we're lingering around the play-offs around January, how much, if any, money do you think the Allams will throw at SB to try secure a automatic spot?
Probably the same as they said in the summer, Bruce will have to ask them on a deal-by-deal basis and offer value for money, if we're in the play-offs it'll be harder for them to say no, but unless Prossy has scored a few by then we probably won't see any more big money deals.
Too a point i agree ^^^ this. But IF we are in or around the top 2 spots the Allams do do whatever to keep us there. The BIG PL money on offer from next season will make it worth a gamble without going overboard. Expect PL owners near the bottom hitting the panic bottom. It could well be a blood bath and maybe struggling clubs will want to cut there squads and a few bargains should be available. Steve Bruce knows what he is doing and i feel sure he knows who he wants and from where. TWT as always.
There's a clause in his contract that says we have the option to buy if we go up, i think he'll want to wait for that despite how much he enjoys playing here under Bruce. He knows he could play in the Prem next year regardless.
I imagine the Allam's will be prepared to spend whatever is needed. Hopefully the manager will be wise enough to use it this time around...
Is it possible for you to make a post without a reference to Barmby, the Pearsons or Bullard. We all know your opinion on them. Any chance of you moving on?
None of us know, and the chances are the Allams don't know. All I'd be confident in saying is Bruce will be backed more than Barmby and Pearson were, because they obviously trust him to spend it more than they did NP and NB. Like Tickler says, the benefits are obvious, but we just don't know how the owners will see it.
I know, I was just being pedantic As for the OP, I think we need a left wing back to cover Dudgeon and perhaps ship out McLean and bring in a loan striker to give us squad depth.
Mclean does seem to be excess right now considering it looks like Matty is coming back and we got Pro on the bench.
Personally I don't believe the owners will open the coffers .The Prossy spend, I think was to reiterate by the owners that Barmby had cash available last January,I,m not convinced he had .Bruce has relied more on Frees and loans to add to his squad than money the Allams say will be made available. I hope I'm proved wrong !
Our transfer policy now works out that Bruce can bring one player in for half the wage/fee of one he lets go.
Well you are wrong. It was public info last season that the Allams wanted to buy Billy Sharp but Pearson and Barmby said no. Barmby sort of cut his own throat after by saying to the press that he hoped funds were available for the next season
