Every year we see a number of players move on a free but which have been the best. We have had a few ourselves, Owen the most recent. He got a few important goals but was nothing more than a bit part player truth be told. I can't think of too many off the top of my head but one in the game today who stands out is Ba at Newcastle. So who in the Premier League era has been the best freebie? ----------- Not youth players promoted!
Ba has been a quality signing, another that springs to mind is Kevin Davies who I think Bolton signed on a free from Southampton (could be wrong though), he quickly became one of the key men in that squad, or maybe Brad Friedel... twice, first to Blackburn and now Spurs.
