Actually, Ivory Coast are currently 4-2 up on Agg in the qualifier against Senegal, if Senegal don't win, theyre out. That means we'll only lose Tiote, and Ba and Cisse will stay home.
I've heard nothing about this, no one else is reporting it. If it's just Illness then I doubt it'll be that long.
'fraid not, we are more than likely going to have only Tiote missing, as Ivory Coast play Senegal in a qualifier and they're 4-2 up from the first leg.
Seems fair. I'd agree Cisse is a more natural finisher, but Ba's not weak by any stretch. I do think Ba's physicality is far superior to Cisse, and for our league, I think that makes him a safer bet. I also think Ba offers more when he's not on his game, he still contributes, whereas Cisse is anonymous when off colour. Believe me, I'd be happy to have either alongside Fletch.
I personally think you're better playing 4-2-3-1. A midfield supporting and providing for Fletcher. It's worked so far.
If all our forwards are on song a 4-2-3-1 works, with Catts winning the ball, Johnson & McClean up the wings and Sess working behind Fletcher. Unfortunately, Johnson has been injured and McClean and Sess are short of form. Another good striker would give us options at the moment.
Not really mate. We've had 3 draws, and you could argue in tough games, but Fletcher has looked really isolated at times. If a defender man marks Fletch & tracks his runs, it's difficult to see where the extra man comes from in the current system, as Sess has been too deep, and when he has got a run it's been down the channels. For me, with the quality we have in midfield, playing 2 up top would bring goals, we're ok at the back, but we don't look, at the minute, like a side full of goals. With Fletch, Seb, Sess, McClean & AJ all capable of bagging a few, that points to the system for me, although I have 100% faith in MON to get it clicking.
It scares me that all the mackems are saying fletch has been isolated/anonymous so far and yet he still has 3 goals
lol, well tbh, they're probably just going to feed him the ball throughout the season. Fletcher has looked their only real goal threat, so I get what they're saying about another striker.
Ba is awesome. Can't imagine that they would want to lose him at all. They may as well run his knees into the ground!
I think you have hit the nail right on the head with this..Good on Ashley to not give into this wanton greed.
Fletch would score goals in any side, me & a few others were screaming it for months before we got the deal done, but he'd score more goals, IMO, alongside somebody. You have to also consider the fact that if he's the only lad scoring, and he gets a knock or a dip in form, we are screwed. We should have goals from everywhere across the front 4/5, unlike when Bent was the main man and we had no back up to it, but for whatever reason, not happened so far. Ba would be a perfect foil, as Fletch movement is good, and a presence like Ba would give him options galore on where to run. The Liverpool goal was typical of what I'm getting at, gamble, go, in front of defender, and it's either a tap in or a penalty and red card. Would be a deadly partnership.
I was one who didn't really rate Fletcher but I'm always happy to be proved wrong, if he bangs in upwards of 15 I'll admit I was well wrong. Can't see Ba going to yous like, people say he wouldn't care as he's from Africa but just watch his interview after the derby he missed a penna in, tells you everything imo.
If he's trying to hold his club to ransom they should say there's the offer, take it or leave it, if you don't want it you'll still be expected to perform for your employer until someone else wants you or your contract runs out, either way, that's all your'e getting.
