Many things are in the past but that does not mean they do not need an explanation or justification , why have a match review ? You have just been dicked , you have lost whats the point in going over things ? Yes thats right .
Nope. I think what you'll find is useful is "what will we do next time to stop X happening again". That's what coaches and managers do.
None at all but I would like a transparent explanation to why we have risk our hard fought promotion over the lack of quality signings , would you like to be in the dark ? I thought this was a new era of openess and honesty ?
Ok then after the defensive balls up from the City game I agree but you would of noticed...............................
Financial stability is far more important than slightly improving our chances of staying up (not like one more CB would guarantee survival, as missing out on one doesn't guarantee relegation) - clearly, Cortese didn't think he had found a deal that was financially suitable. Would you rather we did a Portsmouth, and spent too much money on deals that weren't good for us?
Not really. 1. I don't think there has been a lack of quality signings 2. Even if your premise were reasonable, why would I want anyone at the club wasting even a single second telling us what went on in the past rather than spending their time working on improvements for the future?
I get so tired with all of this our defence is rubbish malarkey. Football is a team game and as such defending is a major portion of same game. The team has to attack as one and defend as one. Against United as time began to run out you could almost smell the sense of uncertainty/fear emanating from our players as they dropped further back trying to defend the lead. Confidence is a very under rated thing it seems, in some quarters, and the lack of it can be a huge weight to carry. I watched City fold at the death last night and felt that they would be feeling a lot worse than we do right now. We still have a lot of games in which to garner necessary points where as they only have another five. The fans can lift a team by loud clear chanting that is a spur and not stopping when the team is struggling. They need us to help them even more now than in recent times and if we stand firm I am sure that we will see some real improvements in the near future. We have been outplayed badly in just one game out of four. I thought as supporters we went to games to cheer our team on and not to go and tear them one because a mistake was made.
I dont blame the players if they are not good enough , thats not their fault is it ? I blame the management , or until they can give a good explanation to why we have not improved our defence I will continue to do so .
I am not 100% sure of what you mean by 'lack' of quality signings, we have spent 29m and signed some very exciting young players. Include Davis in there who many have labelled as a real bargain! I guess you mean lack of defensive signings- Yoshida is Japanese captain and has come to the club with realise promise. We have also signed Clyne who ManU were targeting last year. Personally, I think the club has shown real ambition in this window.
Davis is a real bargain , lets just see what the others bring , I wanted assured quality at the back and for that you have to pay , speculation buys with a possible higher resell a more pragmatic person would say , Ramirez will not stay if he has a great season nor will he stay if we go down , sell him for the same or a huge profit all good , Clyne and Rogriquez are the sort of players that will remain if we go down , but thats sort of against what we are aiming for , if the Japenese captain is good brilliant and is he the captain ? Seems a risk to me and we should of bought more players in defence .
Yes but we are a club who have just been promoted and want to consolidate ourselves as a premiership club again...therefore the priority should have been to improve the areas which are not as good such as the defence! Its great that we have signed these players like ramirez but my argument was just that the most improtant thing i feel the club should have invested in were the defence even if that meant sacrafising making the signing of ramirez for 11million!
Yes but who? You have to assume most of the defenders at big clubs want to play Ch League football so there is a limited pool. We don't know bar Buttner who else we were in for. Who would you have wanted?
We bought 2 defenders (Clyne and Yoshida) and a new GK (admittedly probably more one for the future). How many were you expecting us to buy? One more? A whole new back 4? On Yoshida, I thought when it was speculated we were buying him that he was Japanese captain. Turns out he is but only for the Olympics- still shows that he will have influence on the pitch.
Butland would have been a great signing, but Birmingham took the piss with the asking price. Not sure a whole new back 4 would have been viable, it takes time for a defence to gel- doubt they would have done much better against Arsenal and both Manchesters. Plus I have to say I don't think there were many defenders out there available at 'reasonable' prices.
