Its not a case of never being wrong though is it? its an opinion. You want Jewell out - you give your reasons. We give an opinion on why we are not joining you and thats our opinion. Our reason is that Jewell has clearly messed up and he may well be on the gangplank but we are not at the stage where we want to push him off as we have seen positives. You have been fair recently and still want him to go. JWM makes certain points but wont back them up and so we question them. Lancs when hes on just swears and then disappears. Im not expecting you to change your mind and only the experience at PR will make me jump down the gangplank and either kick Jewell of the edge or pull him back onboard.
Agreed Warky but its getting tiresome banging ones head against a brick wall, honestly can't be bothered to argue anymore, they have their view and we have ours, neither will budge so its a kinda no win situation!!
interesting that you say that. I have no idea how many people voted but last nights evening star had a survey that asked fans how long Jewell should have to turn things around. Only 29% said no longer which also surprised me if Im honest the other votes were 34% till Christmas, 11% said keep him long term, 7% a week and 19% another month. Im amazed at how near the two of the argument are and it appears the majority are in the undecided camp. I would group go now and keep 1 week as both negatives. The 1 months and christmas are still on the fence and the long terms are actually in favour of keeping him.
I would read it as 36% want him gone with 53% on the fence and 7% in his favour. I think that poll is fairly fair compare to these boards. Im not sure of anyone who posted on these boards who would say they think he deserves full support. there are a number of us who are sitting on the fence, myself included who wants to see something happen in the near future to jump either way and the rest are in the out camp. You are correct that 9/10 are not in total favour but I wouldnt say all of the 90% can be seen as being against either.
Yeah Weighty do the long stuff more often, it made a good read but keep the funny short sharp posts also it cheers me up!! JWM I'm still waiting for a response to that question??? We put forward our side of the argument but you do not counter them very well you just come out with some ambiguous statement about PJ being crap!!! Spanish you're right I'm never wrong !!! The thing is all manager screw up, all managers do things fans gasp at or disagree with, in Burleys prime I remember fans couldn't believe some of the players he played formations/tactics he did same goes for all the other managers who have been at the club, there was a very large vocal group who wanted Royle out by the end etc... but Keane is the only manager for me that smacked me in the face to be totally the wrong fit for the club which it turned out to be. With PJ I'm not sure with yet, he is a pretty typical ITFC manager and he's come in possibly with the hardest job any ITFC manager has had in recent history and he has had some positives equally there have been negatives just because I think he's made mistakes or disagree with certain decisions doesn't mean I think we should sack the manager or I would think we should sack every manager we've ever had after a couple of games!!! I never wanted Roy in, in the first place but I was willing to give him a chance but the decisions he made, made me want him gone pretty sharpish because I could see he had the potential to put us in a really dark place which he did. I really cannot see how people can still think Keane is a better manager than Jewell, you can go on about stats but both took over the club in different situations. Keane made us much worse at every single level, whereas Jewell has improved certain aspects!! When football clubs are struggling no matter who is in charge or what went before them fans target the hierachy. It appeared the majority of Ipswich fans wanted Royle gone (and now they think he's the best thing since sliced bread), the majority of fans wanted Sheepshanks gone (he was seen as the major problem at the club), the majority wanted Jim gone, the majority thought Keane coming here was the best thing since sliced bread... I could go on!!Often the majority isn't write. My opinion on PJ is that it could go 2 ways I think by this time next year if we have a midtable finish this season we could potentially have a very strong squad ready to push on under PJ and to sack him could well upset the applecart and we could get another Keane situation where the new manager comes in and rips what is potentially a decent squad apart rather than evolving it and adding 2 or 3 quality signings, therefore we start again. But I also do worry that PJ won't get this defensive situation solved and the confidence of our young players could become frail and we could go on another bad run which would mean a season of looking over our shoulders again!! But we are not at that point yet so I say wait and see how we are doing further into the season before we make a rash decision which could result in starting building a squad all over again!!!
oh so you are back, going to answer why hypothetical answer are allowed to back up your argument but not to argue against you now?
PTC I don't need to write an essay to explain why Jewell has to go! We have suffered more drubbings under his management than at any time in our history. We struggled to 15th Place last year and we are struggling again now with the second worst GD in the league already. The goals have also dried up with us only scoring 3 goals again the lowest number in the League. We conceded the most goals in the championship last year and look likely to do the same this year. He has decided to spunk £1.75 Million on a striker when its clearly obvious that we needed Centre Backs as a top priority. He's had 4 months in which to get some reinforcements in these areas and yet here we are in mid-September and we still have no adequate cover! Yet he has the gall to say that he wont be making the mistake of rushing into signings! But of course we have to keep looking beyond these crap results because we are playing nice football which gets complimemts from opposition managers as they laugh and take the points. And you lot want more of the same! Football is a results driven business and I'm afraid if you can't cut it you deserve the sack and Jewell has reached this point many times! But of course these aren't vaild enough reasons are they!
JWM that was not what I asked, that was ambigiuos yet I do agree with most of it!!! I asked why you critisiced my post and what you disagreed with and you have still yet to answer?? Thats the problem I have with your replies to our posts, they usually consist of let me give an example, I say : "We've played nice tippy tappy football and have a core set of good players now but really need CB's which PJ/Clegg/ME really should have sorted by now as we are weak defensively and get hammered fairly frequently because PJ plays a high line!!" your reply: "How can you keep supporting that baffoon Jewell he should have sorted out the defensive problems by now a clown could see that and we've suffered more drummings under his management than any other time under our history!!" You don't counter my points you just think I'm defending PJ because I have not called for him to be sacked and see some positives in his management and therefore just make some abigious statement of why PJ should go. It's not an argument it's just a list of statements that are on the same subject but do not link up!!!
Can I play? Let me use your example... You're right, we have played some "nice tippy tappy football" recently, but without wins it's meaningless, any system/formation that a manager deploys is only as good as the results that it gets... Yeah, our defense should have been sorted out by now, it's nothing short of mind blowing that this hasn't been sorted out by now, especially as Jewell has often stated what we all know, agreed Jewell is probably hamstrung in the transfer market by Clegg/ME... But the best bit of your example is..." and get hammered fairly frequently because PJ plays a high line" There you have it, tactically inept! you said it yourself!!
Not entirely sure what the point of that post was. This is exactly the thing basically most of this forum has been arguing against. People read a post where they read only a small snippet and take it out of context!!! Yeah and that is exactly what I said, he's tactically inept!!!!
I realize that your example was probably to some extent theoretical, but I was simply showing you how bad an argument/point of view it was... The only context (if you can call it that) that I took it out of was your "point scoring" against JWM, the kind of thing that most of this forun has been arguing against... Anyway, you carry on, mate, I'll not stand in your way...
We shouldn't bitch about not scoring goals and then have a go for spending 1.75m on a striker. We needed Taylor AS WELL as a defender, not in place of.
If we have players in the team to worry our opponents they will not commit so many people forward. One is just as important as the other, if we are on the attack we don't have to worry about defending, but I can see where you're coming from mate.
