Looking down the "Word of Caution" forum; it's clear to see people are still expecting us to cock it up somehow with injuries or whatever. What's to say the current crop DON'T get injured, and we have players that are injured e.g. Fryatt, Cairney, Oli back in the fold. We'll be even stronger then! Last night was a quality performance by a top quality group of players that we have assembled. Be bloody happy... we actually have a chance of going up this year!
Exxperience. Bitter, bitter experience. Personally Im upbeat as I normally am, but supporting this club is a rollercoaster that has over the last 40 odd years for me mostly been down!
Well said. Whatever Hull City do there will always be the doom and gloom brigade. Let the rest worry about us.
I've been supporting the club for 14 years now; and yeah I've seen horrible times too. But now I'm delighted we're playing as well as we are! It annoys me when people think we'll cock it up. The manager is no slouch, he's signed some cracking players on the cheap (and one mediocre one for an expense lol); the players are playing so well in the 3-5-2... Look up people
Hull City this isnt Hull City that we are watching its some other ****ers dressed in our kit and any moment now the truth will come out and they will all go home and take their ball with them! I feel the same now as in the last three minutes at Wembley, this isnt happening, it cant be happening because we are Hull City and this is not what happens. Do you know how sad that makes me feel reading that back? There should be a Hull specific name for it like "pessihulled".
People aren't being pessimistic, just saying we can't win every game so don't be too downbeat when our winning streak comes to an end. The start to the season fills me with optimism and hope that we can get promoted in May but I will be keeping my feet on the ground whilst thoroughly enjoying watching the lads.
Well said Mel, and a nice way to put it in fact as odd as that sounds. I think expecting the worst makes the good times better for some, though Im always just gonna be annoyingly upbeat and enjoy the journey, with all its ups and downs. This way we relish the good stuff and dont end up expecting to be owed something, or worse, to be entitled to something *coughTWScough*.
Exactly ^^^^^ I'm sure some people on here don't read threads properly. The Word of caution thread is only saying stay optimistic even if we're not steam rollering over everyone in sight and don't start turning on the players / management.
I wasn't at wembley, I waited to see what the outcome was going to be before I chose to support hull or Chelsea, but the last time I was this optimistic we won a few on the trot including back to back wins against arsenal and spurs away in a much tougher league with a much weaker squad in comparison to each league. So I'm certain we can win te league.
Personally I'm not looking forward to Fryatt's return. Simply because he appears to start regardless of good/bad performances by both himself and his peers. Hopefully Bruce will be different. If Simpson gets dropped again I'm going to start banging my head against the wall. And I'm a student now, so I'll probably nut straight through it
Agreed completely. Simpson in the last 3 games has been far better than I've seen any other striker player for us since Deano and Campbell. He's making all the runs and movement that Fryatt gives you, but he also gives you pace, strength, a fantastic touch, an ability to hold the ball up and turn and he can actually finish too.
I don't think anyone is being pessimistic, it's a case of keeping our feet on the ground. It's being a great start to the season and it's great to see us as the pace setters for once. There's a long way to go yet and nothing is won in September. I'm confident that this team can go places and it's great to see us have such talent at our disposal, it's just important we keep our feet on the ground, keep working hard and overcome any knock backs.
amazing the shift in confidence in front of goal in just a few games.. despite after ten minutes yesterday, 1-0 down and the referee seemingly against us, i wasnt fazed and simply couldnt see us not scoring.. and this is from a guy who almost fell asleep at 4 or 5 games over the last 2 years
Fryatts return is important he would not get in the team at the moment but is still a good finisher and i am sure the teams that go up not only have the best team but also the beat squad, you will never get through the season with the same 11 so good players are always needed
I would not worry about that happening anytime soon. Certainly not this side of Father Christmas emptying his sack all over your living room.
I'm indifferent to Fryatt, 16 goals or not he was the invisible man when we needed him most. No point banging in hat-tricks when it's too late. Koren was our key player last season.
