Season ticket holders not turning up won't cause any financial loss so will it make any difference and besides i wouldn't expect a season ticket holder that has spent hard earned money on said ticket to then not turn up.
Weighty If only season ticket holders turned up that would mean we would get around 10k at the match, trust me, a couple of weeks of that and ME would act. Don't forget that its not only ticket sales that generate income, progs, food, drink etc all have to be teken into account. I also think that season ticket holders would boycott a few matches if it meant a change. Tractor bhoy Sometimes you feel that some things are stupid and the only way to really express your thoughts is to use that word, hardly a major insult is it? You know full well that if i wanted to throw insults then STUPID would be the last word i would use, shirt lifting knob jockey would be for starters and it would get progressively worse!! It certainly never warranted Rushmere to throw his toys out of his pram and act like a 2 yr old but hey ho , sadly it looks like he has gone for the time being, maybe he will return, who knows? Anyway, time to move on, Wolves tonight and i can't see anything other than a defeat, roll on Saturday and 3 points guaranteed!!
But what change are you after - you all have so many 'anti' points that seem to change and when asked about them nobody answers. As I keep saying it switches between Jewell/ Clegg and ME on a daily basis. If Jewell/ Clegg are working under strict guidelines from Evans and you want Evans gone then I hope you know a multimillionaire replacement for him because as much as I dont like him, we would be knackered if he withdrew his money tomorrow. On the insults thing, neither yourself or JWM are overly insulting but you both seem incapable of accepting that your way isnt the only way and will both explain points by using terms such as mindless, stupid, limp wristed as a way of dismissing idea's rather than explaining why. It doesnt upset me and its not overly vindictive but it can sometimes make you wonder why you bother posting on here when all your views are automatically written off as stupid without having an reason other than the general we are doomed etc.
Incorrect, i explain why i say stupid or limp wristed etc, i explained why i thought the comment was stupid (because Evans would have to act if most people stopped going, no boss in their right mind would let carry on) I explained why i thought too many are limp wristed (to me it seems Town fans accept mediocrity and are not very vocal when needed) I have NOT called for ME to go (so thats a lie) but have called for Jewell and Clegg to go, neither i feel are good enough, i wasn't happy with the Clegg appointment to start with, we need an experienced football man as a CEO, which Clegg is not and as for Jewell the bloke seems to be a buffoon. We need at least 1 CB and he goes and spends over £1 million on a striker/winger. Fair enough we could do with another striker but we have cover in that position, we have no cover if one of our CB's get injured and this was and is a major priority, yet all we get is excuse after excuse. We must have had the money because we spent it on Taylor, so thats no excuse and that also shows that ME has made money available. Thats where i stand, thats why i want Jewell and Clegg out and i can't see how people can defend either, although i know they do and always will, but WHY?? Don't though give me the improved football bit because if we played like Barca every week but lost every week we would still get relegated, under Jewell we have conceded sooooo many goals and scored very few yet you all seem to be content with this, i don't get it!!
The definition of Stupidity is to keep repeating the same thing and hoping for a different outcome! By this definition Jewell has proven himself to be stupid, incompetent and bordering on the negligent! Just one example: We spunk £1.75 Million on a striker and yet spend nothing on reinforcing our defense and indeed making it weaker by letting go a Centre Back!
Spanish I do actually think you've got better in recent times but I geuss people who aren't used to you being a pillock (I'm saying that in the nicest sence) don't take well to it and I completely understand!! But the problem is there seems to be some people on here who want to come on here to have proper football debate it may get heated sometimes but not insulting just a difference of views and then there appear others who come on here for the so called 'banter' when alot of this is just people insulting others in not a very funny way or as I've said before perhaps it's how some people vent their frustration by being faceless and taking it out on people on a football forum. The problem is that the second type of people I described are usually the most vocal and dominating therefore the ones who just want to come on here to debate football in a civilised manner are often put to the side or stay away. Unfortunately this has become more and more apparent, the not606 board is nowhere near as vibrant or diverse as it was for 606 and I know for a fact that many have left for the reasons mentioned in this thread!!! I just find your arguments quite hypocritical Spanish. As I said 2 weeks ago you seemed fairly happy with how things were going under PJ and were prepared to give him more time, now you are calling people who don't feel he should be sacked yet limp wristed etc... And considering you consider yourself as fairly bright surely there you could think of a more eloquent less insulting way of putting your views accross rather than just swearing and dismissing peoples views as completely stupid!! Then you go on to say he over reacted and is childish.... do you need me to explain how this is hypocritical of you Spanish??? On the football you mention fans who accept mediocrity by not being vocal, for me this is a STUPID argument, noone on here wants town to be in mediocrity but there are different views of how we get out of it. If we are going down that route of mediocrity, you were very vocal against me wanting Keane given the sack from pretty early on but I never accused you of being happy with mediocrity, watching boring football, being happy that we spunked millions on rubbish players, being happy that we sold Jordan Rhodes, got rid of Klug, not only failed to get in a RB but got rid of our only recognised one who was a decent one at that!!!
PTC you hate Keane but what you fail to remember is that he would never have allowed this present Defensive crisis to develop! Jewell IS by every measure the worst Town manager we have ever had maybe older posters remember Jackie Milburn's tenure but in my lifetime Jewell is by far the worst! He's had 2 years to fix our defence, it took him a whole year to bring in a permanent Goalkeeper after he used 4 different keepers last year! He says he wont be rushed into signing a Centre Back eventhough he has had 4 months of the close season and now he has released one without even bringing in a replacement. It is frankly incompetent and I cant believe that anyone can now defend Jewell and still keep a straight face!
Spanish, maybe not all the comments are from you personally and if I have generalised and therefore added you by default then I apologise. On this thread you have explained yourself but I feel that is not always the case. Personally I dont see what Clegg does but as I have said if he is working under strict constraints from Evans, it is hardly his fault that we dont offer the right wages etc. I do agree with you that I would also prefere a football guy to be able to do the day to day running as he would not only know what he was talking about but would also be able to 'sell' the club when self promotion is required. On the jewell Taylor/ defender argument - from what I understand a manager will draw up a list of potential signings and will give them to the 'negotiation team' for want of a better phrase. This has certainly been true in the past at PR and is certainly true at a lot of other clubs currently. Im assuming nothing has changed. Im guessing that the list had 4 or 5 names for each required position. We know Davies was a top target along with a goalkeeper and I assume a defender or two. Now for arguments sake, if he gave Evans a list of 5 achievable signings (ie within budget, hopefully sensible wage demands etc) and Evans comes back and says I have managed to secure 2 of your targets but we were unable to agree terms on your defender and Derby wont play ball with Davies how is that Jewells fault.I could be wrong although Jewell has spoken of his frustration that the club didnt have luck in the transfer window. He could be using the word 'frustration' rather than 'useless' as he wants to give a picture of unity. He has stated this week that he has not been involved in Martins contract talks which MAY also add to my point. You call it excuse after excuse, it may be mistake after mistake, incompetence after incompetence or just explaining the situation. He has said this morning that he knows having two defenders is bad but signing players who arent up for the job is worse than taking time in getting the right player in, a mistake he admits to making last season You say we have spent money but you surely cant deny that the money we have spent in PJ's reign is a million miles away from what we spent under the earlier years of ME's reign. Unconfirmed reports suggest we spent about £1.5 -1.75 on Taylor (personally I cant see this as he was also out of contract next summer) 150k on loach and a similar amount on Hewitt and the kitty now appears to be empty. I wont try and defend Clegg as we get very little information on the business side or from ME on his plans. I will give an honest assessment of Jewell based on what I see a matches. I have said it many times these last few weeks but just for clarity. If he went I would understand the reasons. I feel last season he failed but realised his mistakes and has come into this season with a much changed and much improved philosophy. He has got us playing entertaining football but I have concerns in our mental strength and our physicality at both ends of the pitch and that Im not sure if he can transform the positives he has given us into a final complete package. I personally feel that aswell as his own mistakes he has been let down by those above him and that is why I havent called for him to go.
I dont want to turn this into a manager vs manager debate but you do realise it was Keane who got rid of every full back we had at the club dont you. He may have stocked up on central defenders but it doesnt make it any better in the overall picture.
What do you mean what I fail to remember, it makes no sence. Noone can say if he would have let this defensive crisis emerge. PJ may not have fixed it (and like you say he really should've done by now) but Keane allowed McAuleys contract to run down, he brought in Delaney, got rid of our best RB and only RB and got us an average GK on high wages. So he may have been faced with the same problems, especially as we are now coming under very strict finacial rules, I struggle to see how Keane would have coped with that. He probably would have walked. I cannot say PJ has done a good job (yet) he did in his first few months but there are signs that we are now heading in a much better direction and we have a set of very good players now, we've got much more quality and unity than when Keane was here. We have better players, more players in some sort of form and adding to that players who haven't cost as much, are younger and hungier and are on lower wages but on the flip side last season we had too many has beens (but I can understand why he went down this route), our defence has only 2 CBs and looks very easy to breach and we still seem prone to the odd thrashing. But to say PJ is worse than Keane, I'm sorry I cannot agree with that. PJ has had probably the most difficult job of a Town manager (along with Royle) for years, if he got sacked tomorrow, I would not say he has taken us backwards or that he has ruined the club, infact I would be fairly encouraged with what the next manager has to work with, lets make no bones about it, I don't think he has done the best job yet but Keane took this club from a fairly promosing position and ruined us that we are still recovering from, there's no comparison in my eyes!!!
PTC Are you PJ in disguise? Cos you sure sound like you are! How you can carry on defending him like you do is admirable but foolish in the extreme! The charge sheet against him is as long as my arm!
Sorry JWM unfortunately not but saying that you do seem to make him out like some criminal who is an arsehole, which I have to say I dislike because he is neither (perhaps his wife would beg to differ) The problem is JWM you see things in Black and White and you appear to see (my) arguments in Black and White, just because I see some positives in PJ notice you think I think everything he has done is brilliant. I swear sometimes you don't fully read peoples posts and just go by who posted it and reply, out of my last post do tell me what you think is wrong and (maybe) a few things that you agree with aswell???
You say that we are heading in a much better direction under PJ in your previous post although all the facts so far this season suggests quite the opposite! How are we getting better?
was going to say pretty much the same PTC, we have both pointed out failures (not tightened up the defence, cant score, too many thrashings, the failure of the proven oldies amongst them) yet it appears people can picked out the 10% where you say he has done something right and accuse you of being stupid or in love with the guy. It was one of the things I pointed out about 20 comments back and to be fair to Spanish he did answer points fairly with his point of view but it appears JWM is still out to jump on the smallest signs on positivity and crush them.
I've stated that in my previous post. What specifically do you disagree with in that post and not just a general statement... specifically!!!
Well, it appears (in some peoples views) we are either Jewell 'Lovers' OR Jewell 'Haters' apparently there is nothing in between..... Where's that bloody fence gone when you need it!!
I have to say Spanish in your defence recently you have got much better and I've agreed with much of what you say apart from that splurge earlier in the thread but then it wouldn't be Spanish without the odd major over reaction!!!
Look, some of you might look at life through 50 shades of grey but to me there is no grey. Jewell is inept and totally out of his depth so the answer is simple we get rid! No good pissing about when the ship is sinking!
JWM The problem I have with your black and white view of life is you look at the picture and aim directly for the prominent angry looking figure in the centre rather than take any notice of the dodgy character with the gun near the border! Jewell is the most obvious target and he may be in the wrong, he may even be an accomplice according to in picture theory. You seem to have him down as chief scout, chief negoiator, chief salesmen, chief money maker, chief decision maker. No wonder he cant coach our team how to defend a set piece because in your picture he is doing every other job at the club. Im actually beginning to wonder if in your picture of the club there is actually only Jewell & Clegg and the rest of the staff have been made redundant.
