With AJ out for however many months it seems we're now completely reliant on Cisse and Zamora to fire us up the league.

Forgive me for being a little anxious but with both their age and injury record we could soon be very bare up front if we aren't already!

It does make you wonder whether it was the right decision to let Heidar go as although he's not going to set the world alight his consistent performances would be excellent back-up and afterall it's not like we were pressed for cash and had to sell him before his contract ran out!

It is not for lack of effort eg the Brazilian whizz kid that fell through. I'm confident they are on the case and will address in Jan if required. We can bemoan Heider's absence or rejoice that the quality standard required has gone up. Too early to fret too much.

We don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Perhaps HH at his time of life wanted to be on the pitch and not on the bench.

I really think Mackie can do us a job, he scored a few goals last year through sheer determination and showed that he can do it when it matters. He surely gives us a completely different option up top, which has got to be a good thing!

Having said all of that, the one that did seem to have gotten away is Berbatov, if he had been prepared to come.

I think we could see a change of formation with the loss of AJ, I would quite like to see a 4 - 2 - 4 with the front four interchanging, we now have a solid back four and two strong central midfielders in Ali and Granero which would allow them a bit more freedom.

I would love to see us playing with Hoilett, Cisse, Tarbs and Park, I think they all have the ability to swap positions and score for us, it would be a nightmare to defend against too...

    Just a thought...

I too think Mackie can do the same job as AJ, maybe that was in MH's thoughts too. Where's Troy whatshisname?

"Reliant on Cisse and Zamora". Not a bad place to be. I remember the days when we had to rely on Priskin and Pellicori :emoticon-0105-wink:

I'm not too worried. I have faith in Mackie playing up front and also a couple of others can do a job, including Taarabt as a second striker. **** happens, you have to make do. It won't be the end of our season.

With that said, I wish we had kept Helguson.

No, don't you remember? It was a big consensus on here that he wasn't good enough for us. <doh>

Consensus? On here?! I'd have loved it if he'd come to us.

It sure was! Incredible right?! Just like Jelavic wasn't good enough last January. I can at least hold my hand up and say I wanted both at the time, and still do.
