I've always thought he was a bit of a tit. Plus he came with horrible reviews from his last job, and preseason hardly went well. Also I've never liked the idea of 5-3-2 and I knew he always set up his teams that way.

I was wrong though - thankfully.

Might be wrong but I cant remember Sunderland playing that way! I'm sure Bruce said something in the media this week that he hasn't played this formation for a good 10 years

I heard that as well, but I thought he said he has played it for a good ten years. You're probably right, but either way I didn't like the formation before, but I love it now.

Well you watch them more than i do and its just what i noticed from sundays game. I hope its a draw tonight so that Nigel can enjoy our sunday sing-a-long. IF Hull City play anywhere between the standards set in the Millwall and Leeds games then Lesta are going to have to be Barcelona to avoid defeat. Am so pumped up for sunday already. As the lads keep tweeting..............BuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzIN.

The Sunderland fans were slagging him off for sticking with 4-4-2, I wonder if O'Neil coming there and using 3-5-2 had anything to do with his change of heart.

Without Elmo it wouldn't be as effective though! Will we be losing Elmo & Aluko in January because of African nations?

Who knows, but if we are its not that bad looking at the fixture list during that period.

I worry about this, the formation didn't work very well before Elmo and Quinn arrived and if we lose either of them, I worry about cover.

We started to tire last night and there were very few decent options on the bench. Not having Cairney, McKenna or Oli available left us with pretty much no central midfield options, hence Rosie having to play in midfield for the last ten minutes(he actually looked like he was going to play as a striker when he came on).

Can remember when he came in for F Campbell then M Turner (whatever happened to him?) Everybody hated him !
You can blame the last regime of Duffen & Brown for that. Steve Bruce knew Quality players when he saw them. Still does.
Who'd argue if he went after other player to help City get back to the Prem. Very few, I'm sure

Nobody can argue with what Bruce is doing and I'm sure he will be trying to bring in at least one loan player in the next month

The bench looks much stronger now. Many options Bruce can use. My only gripe last night was that when Koren went off Steve Bruve should have shut up shop. We stayed far too open and gave the ball away which led to the 2nd goal.

Paul Mckenna is back for Sunday and hopefully Oli was not risked last night so should be back. Even if Koren has to miss sundays game it wont be a disaster. Aluko can play in Korens position and give McLean the spot up front with Simpson. Putting Devitt on the bench was silly as Cooper gives you better options.

As for the African Nations thats along way off and who is to say that Elmo and Aluko especially will be involved. I also think that Bruce will have further additions to the squad by then anyway.

As this is a NP team I cannot see it being high scoring, would be happy with a 1-1

Rosenior came on for Koren, thats hardly an attacking move.

Koren missing Leicester wouldn't be a disaster but it would seriously hinder our chances of victory. Mclean could not play the role that Sone auko currently occupies. I agree that Cooper should be on the bech but whilst McShane is there he will not be.

I would think its quite likely that Elmo & Aluko will be missing for us in January, which I hope Steve Bruce is planning for.

Won't have to worry about Elmo; Egypt lost hilariously to Central African Republic in the first qualifying round and didn't advance.

Do Sunderland have a recall option on him?

we might win we might loose we might draw. In the grand scheme of things it won't matter so much because there is far too much quality in this team for us not to be right up there come the end of the season.

    predict 2-1 hull.

I never said that bringing on Rosenoir was an attacking move. But also we did not shut up shop like we should have done.

McLean would be ideal against Morgan and Moore more so than Aluko. We may just need a couple of pairs of fresh legs. Cooper should have been on the bench for Devitt, which was the point i made.

Dont worry about January. Its still only september and Bruce will have that covered by the time it comes around. But will Elmo and Aluko be missing ? Maybe not now.l

No. Its a season long loan with a view to a permanant deal. Elmo's own words in a recent press statement.
