Luckily for us, he's not exactly the smallest player so in theory should be able to withstand a lot more.
Punch wasn't our best player at Arsenal IMO, by some way. I would agree though that he should be in the squad if not the eleven for his start to the season. Saints 2-1
FLT - agree with you about Punch, it was Gibbs's constant unaposed attacking runs down his side that exposed Clyne so much and resulted in the first goal and a lot of dangerous crosses etc

Cork back?! Got my ticket, cannot wait. Still optimistic I'm going for a 3-1 saints win. Ricky, Ramierez + someone unlikely to score. Not sure about playing RB at LB but maybe clyne could do it? Adkins isn't so keen on this tho.... perhaps time for Shaw?!
Not sure Shaw is fully fit as he only returned to training at the end of last week. Assume Cork is fit?
The OS has said nothing. When I see the plaster cast I'll believe it. In other news, I see Jack Cork is well on the way to mending. Played for the U21s the other day.

surely we cant lose 5 on the trot!? oh yes we can. im already worried and its only wednesday villa will be confident too having just beat the ducks
Norwich fan in peace. Don't know how Wigan played against you, but the only stifling that Lambert's teams do in my experience is in the opposition half, i.e. they press high and try and snuff out attacks before they can be started in midfield, which is how we beat Swansea home and away last season. Swansea's trouble was that they only knew one way to play, and had no answer. You'll probably need to get the ball forward quickly, by-passing the pressers. You have the players to do that and should be fine. But you are right that you'll need to keep going for the 90+ minutes. Lambert's teams never give up.
Agree with the canary. Villas biggest signing in the summer was Lambert. His motivation & organisation will take a fairly average/poor side on paper to become a side that I think will be safe with time to spare. They have the weapons in Bent/Beneke to nick the necessary goals. It's going to be tough for us as the pressure of needing points will be high, so a good start is essential. having said that I think we can get something though it will be tight. 1st goal wins
The start of the of link states Hooiveld has been influential this season for us , I do not disagree with this statement at all .
