He's an immense player, I wouldn't be surprised if we go in for him next summer, especially if Walcott wants out.
I'll have a crack too. Vito - 8 (Our Man of the match, kept us in the lead) Jenks - 6 (Good 1st half, poor 2nd half) Per - 7 (Our best defender, put his body on the line, fought for things) Verm - 6 (errors everywhere, balancing out his good play. An average game) Gibbs - 6 (Pretty quiet) Arteta - 6 (His Worst game in an Arsenal shirt IMO) Diaby - 6 (mixed the sublime with the ridiculous. Definitely faded badly) Cazorla - 7 (gave the ball away too often, but still created chances) Poldi - 7 (nice finish, couldn't get into the game in the 2nd half, but he battled hard) Gerv - 7 (works hard, causes people problems. Again, didn't feature in the 2nd half) Giroud - 3 (Not an Arsenal player. Not good enough for us. My patience with him has run out)
No. He is just back to his normal. He was playing exactly how he had been playing for the last 6 years. Good runs and suicidal decisions. Good athleticism and total lack of mental discipline.
Sorry, but that is way OTT. I thought he had a decent enough game. He made a couple of mistakes and faded in the 2nd half, but overall his contribution was part of the reason why we came away with 3pts .
I would give Giroud a 4/10. His first touch was horrible. Had a bad game and he knew it, he looked embarrassed when he came off the pitch. I doubt Wenger will start him against City now. Dont think Diaby did too badly - looked decent in the first half. Besides he wasnt 100% fit
He still worked hard and linked up play well in the first half. He brings others into play and makes room for people to run into, pulling defenders out of position. He needs a goal, but giving him a 3 is bollocks.
I'm sorry Piskie, but i can't keep giving him the benefit of the doubt. I doubted him when we signed him, i doubted him after the pre season game, and i still doubt him now. I don't see what he did to justify being given more than a 3, he got totally owned by Mapou Yanga Mbiwa, who's good, but not world class. I hope for our sake that i'm wrong, i really do, i want the guy to do well, but he just seems lost.
Schalke also had a pretty dodgy disallowed goal. All in all they look like a really solid team, and I suspect we'll need to outscore them to get all 3 points on their ground.
And despite that he still played in Podolski brilliantly for the first goal You need to recognise what he is doing well instead of just slating him. It's only been 4 games and whilst he needs a goal, he still makes a decent contribution in every game.
Giroud did not get owned by Mbiwa, in fact Mbiwa struggled against him all night. Especially against balls in the air when his arms were all over Giroud.
I'm not judging his lack of goals, i'm judging his overall play, and yes, he got an assist, but he contributed nothing after that, and has looked out of his depth in every game so far. His body language doesn't help either, rather than looking angry that he's missed (Podolski style), he's all shrugged shoulders and apologetic gestures.
Sack Wenger, sack Kroenke, sack Gazidis, sack Hill-Wood,transfer the whole ****ing team. We've got £10 billion in the bank and we buy **** like Podolski and that ****ing Spanish dwarf
Kyle you say that this was Arteta's worst game for us, and then you expect people to respect your views on our players. Arteta for large patches of the game was the only 'functioning' bit of our midfield. We were collectively quite bad in the second half, but managed to hold on for the win. I couldn't single out any single performance as bad. Giroud is a classic CF, you can't expect him to show his qualities in a half that we were on the back foot. I think they showed a lot of respect for him in the first half, was almost always marked by 2 players. Was an important part of our attacking play in the first half.
His overall play is decent enough. Like I said, he pulls defenders out of position, brings our players into play, makes good first touches, keeps the ball moving, and works hard all through the game. All he's missing is a goal. To give up on him after 4 games is just stupid Kyle.
