Sunderland are hoping to win the race to sign Adam Maher. The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive season for AZ Alkmaar last season, which led to him being voted as the Young Player of the Year in Holland. Maher remains under contract at the Eredivisie club until the summer of 2015, but he has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the New Year. Although the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City are said to be keen, the lure of regular first team football could work in favour of Martin O’Neill’s Black Cats. It is believed the Stadium of Light club are prepared to pay £8million for the teenage midfielder, who has one goal and two assists in five league games this season. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- looks outstanding!
agree but the the lad looks like he has all the attributes to succeed, started off this season on form by the looks of it with a goal and two assists so far, maybe its a risk we should take need to get the scouts out across europe looking at players like this lad.
Seen him twice and been impressed, I'll keep an eye on him. Most AZ matches are live on Bet365, to win young player of the year in the Eridivisie takes some doing.
Been linked with him for a good while ourselves. Have you hired a scout or what? How did O'Neill know about him? He wasn't at Villa as a youngster was he?
I've read about him. Seems like a classy kid. You'll need to spend time on him though. He may take 3+ seasons to get used to the PL.
Not sure it makes sense to buy another wunderkid when the one we have is not delivering yet, until we sell some of the others that have not made it.
He is just the sort of creative midfielder we are lacking, his age is questionable though, i would prefer a little bit more experience tbf however, he is a talent no doubt
