Due to what's gone on this week you were obviously pantamime villain before a ball had been kicked but as a neutral watching the game I'd just like to be the first to not be a sheep and say you were robbed.

Forget the disallowed goals, until tech is in place that will happen but the decision not to play advantage for Ben Arfa was the most cowardly I've ever seen. The ref deliberately denied Newcastle a clear opportunity to score based on the perceived error made by the linesman only seconds earlier.

What wont be mentioned amongst all the pro-Everton BS is that the free kick that led to the Anichebe "goal" was never even in a free kick in the first place, Anichebe lost his balance and when the Everton fans cried he caved in and awarded a free kick. The ref had no clue at all. As bad as the linesman was for Everton the referee was equally as bad (if not Moreso) for you guys.

Good game but I honestly feel a draw was a fair result

Everton SHOULD have been atleast 2 goals up by halftime, I think we were lucky tbh.

Fellaini's goal was fine. 3-2 was a fair result IMO.

That was an excellent game!! End to end, zero playacting, good refereeing (up until the disallowed goal), adventurous play from both teams.

Baines was incredible first half, still between him and Ba for MoM for me. Should really have been 3-2 but I think we put enough work in to not feel guilty about getting the point.

The offside goal should have stood, the ball wasn't blatantly over the line like people are suggesting. Also if that original free kick was a foul by Santon the Everton lad fouled him first. Not to mention that Fellaini should have been sent off and Neville was probably fortunate as well.

Neville should of been given a second yellow for deliberately blocking off a counter attack

Ref was poor throughout. The offside goal WAS tricky to call, as Gary said, especially considering his view of the ball was blocked so he couldn't actually see the moment it was kicked. Anichebe half blocked his view of the on the line call too, though the free kick leading to that was never a free kick. That also led to the Ben Arfa incident, clearly him trying to make up for his error, in one way or another.

I had to laugh when the Everton fans had to get on the refs back after the Anichebe foul on Harps, even though it was just because of Harps good sportsmanship that he didn't see yellow!

Debatable, wasn't overly complaining that he wasn't sent off, though was disappointed Fellaini didn't get sent off for his tackle and punch on Williamson.

He certainly aimed a deliberate hand into Williamson while making that tackle.

To be fair if anyone deserved to win it was Everton.

2-2 was the result the game deserved, but if anyone deserved to nick it, it was indeed Everton.

Ball crossed the line, should have been a goal. However it was from a free kick that was 100% NEVER a free kick in any way shape or form – hence my immediate expectation that Everton would score from it.

ALSO the referee blatantly evened things up with what was an incredibly bizarre decision not to play us an advantage whilst 3 v 1 on goal from the breakaway. Weirdest decision in the whole game aside from the non free kick (see above).

We were utterly awful tonight though and this is worryingly consistent with every game we've played so far this season – League or Europe. It has been very, very poor indeed and the players need to WAKE UP fast.
Hopeful this kind of result and the very slight second half improvement will fire them into life and we can put a real shift in across 90 minutes against Norwich.

Elsewhere, Demba did great with his goals obviously but needs to quit the spoilt brat act if dropped to the bench. Do the business on the pitch and shut up, let the manager get on and do his job for the wider cause.
Ba proved the manager wrong tonight, but Pardew might have felt he needed benching to get the reaction he got – ultimately the manager knows best and its his call to make.

And if what ESPN are saying about Obertan are true then he's a complete tool because his NUFC career was already leading a charmed life.
Pardew has at times made himself look a right numpty to protect him and say positive things to lift his confidence and if he can't even step onto the pitch when asked he can rot in the reserves...

I think anyone watching the match, regardless of the bias (mine is clearly for Newcastle I accept), would have to agree with that assessment.
I've since heard Everton fans on 5 Live and Talksport phone-ins after the match shouting down a Toon fan for saying the exact same thing, but surely if we're critical of a bad referee decision that occurs following (as a consequence of) a bad referee decision we shouldn't pick and choose?

What I will say is that the officials had a tough task in a frantic second half, but were helped by excellent sportsmanship and behaviour from both sets of players.
It was played in a commendable good spirit despite some history from last season's match AND the contentious decisions we've discussed.

I'll finish by saying that despite my obvious bias for Newcastle, we could have had few qualms if the Everton goals had indeed stood (including Fellaini's) as they were the better side over the 90 mins and deserved to win if either did...

Me and the Mrs just watched it on TV.She reckons over the line,I said no.TBH it's probably one of the very few cases where goalline technology might struggle.Races do end in dead heats sometimes.Anyway lads you will do better on Sunday,we don't score goals any more.
