I've watched every home game for the last 10 years. **** off nobhead. Fox wasn't up to scratch defensively last season he was getting ripped to shreds then by good sides. At least the other defenders looked solid then , which they don't now.
Is he wrong though ? You could be wearing Laura's kacks but thats not bringing anything to the party is it ?
Ok, so let's go with you for a minute or two. We drop Kelvin, Fox, Hoovield and Clyne. What is your back 5 going to be?
There will be no major changes until January...it's NA's job to get the best out of what we've got by training or tactical changes. It's our job to support Saints. Simples (added that because no one's been wound up by it recently).
I wouldn't drop Kelvin. I think it would give team morale to big of a hit to be worthwhile. Also the defence would be even shakier with a novice behind them rather than an experience old head. We need to sort out defence out first before thinking about changing the keeper imo. Also perhaps he'll prove us wrong and play a bit better in the next few.
Maybe you misread the original post. I can not see where he said Kelvin should be dropped and reading between the lines I assume that is simply because we have no adequate as of yet replacement. Kelvin was poor but so were the defenders mentioned, and again there was a hint of tongue in cheek in the comment. I may be wrong but I read the post as saying that we just do not have enough quality at the back yet.
We must have softened Arsenal up a bit, they went one down to Montpelier with a Penalty that KD would have saved! 2 1 up now Pod and Gerv scored.
Ok, what about the back four then, or are you saying you wouldn't drop any of them? Your original quote suggested a change and I was wondering what those changes would be.
Maybe, but it I read it as another comment suggesting that 4 of our back 5 aren't "up to scratch". He also said "if you drop Davis, then Fox, Hoovield and Clyne have to be dropped as well" It would be good if people substantiated a post that criticises the players, by at least suggesting an alternative, or by admitting although not up to sctratch it is the best we have.
ok Kelvin has not had the best start to the season..however i do feel people are placing all the blame at his door for the 14 goals we have conceded in 4 games. Nobody mentions the rest of the defence with tackles such as Hooiveld's and Fonte's which have been poor and given away two penalties. Overall, it is clear that the whole defence needs serious work. Lets face it..we could have the worlds best goalkepper in goal for us but if our defence are not providing the goalkeeper with good defensive duties then any goalkeeper would struggle. Secondly, it was not long ago that Kelvin Davis agreed to play for Southampton in League one with no pay for a few months because the club could not afford to pay the staff their wages; surely we need to support him and give him something back for his good gesture. I know some will be saying yeh but he is not premier league class but we are only 4 games into the new season and 3 of those games were against title challengers. If we dont play kelvin davis who else at the club at the moment would you trust more in goal?!?!...lets give the man our support as our negative attitude will rub off on the team!
As Adkins was a former keeper, I fully trust his decisions when it comes to the goalkeeping department ... he'll know about their ability more than us
I think either two things have happened. One the club have tried buying goalkeepers but the deals have fallen through so therefore have had to stick with Kelvin Davis. Or the club firmly believed davis would cut it at the premier league and believed that we needed strengthning in other areas by buying ramirez for 11million; if this was the case then i disagree with the club! Surely we needed to strengthen the team with a goalkeeper, another centre back and left back. Its great to have Ramirez but do you think the money should have been spent more wisely?
