Yes. Footballers are given too much of a rough ride by the media IMO. They don't ask to be paid millions or have their personal lives in the spotlight. People might point to Soldiers and rightly so, but footballers can inspire a generation. Sport is as important to the average man than anything else. It keeps you ticking
Not according to the definition of "hero" in the Encyclopedia Britanica. It would be stretching the imagination reach to conclusion. Inspiring, uplifting , pampered, yes, Hero ????? Not too many risk their lives to save anothers. On the other hand Zola is my Hero !!!
Well to me a hero is someone who is very brave - usually beyond the call of duty etc. No way is a footballer a hero in my book. @ District Line - I normally agree with most of your posts but I have to disagree re "they don't ask to be paid millions". They do and they are greedy *astards as well.
They did when it was offered to them. Players don't get 10k a week and then ask for 100k. The money gets thrown at them and then they demand more.
