Before I get to my main point I would just like to say alright chaps I'm back after a short break away and great to get back to winning ways. Right the point of my article after the problems we have had this season with the injury to Fraizer right at the start of the season followed up by the departure of Benty and the injuries to Welbeck we cannot risk the same thing happening again next year. Once the season ends we will have 2 strikers in the squad, Asamoah Gyan and Fraizer Campbell who is out for the next 12months. Brucie needs to get the cheque book out and bring in 3strikers, maybe not all on permanent deals but we need 3 in. Who we should go for? * A top class replacement for Bent. Brucie has said he is willing to break the transfer record we need someone who can hold the ball up aswell as play with it on the deck - my choice - Edinson Cavani * A good 3rd choice striker who can come in and do a job when we need them or can come on and grab us a goal if we need one. * Maybe like Welbeck this year a young striker onloan maybe Welbeck again
Danny Graham from watford? I dont really see a reason for not signing someone from a lower division for the squad. And he has scored Rucks of goals this season
havn't got a clue mate, a top striker costs top money, and i don't see one we can really expect to get at the moment. loads of names banded about, bentner, pav, etc, but as good as they are, do you really think they are top draw. sturridge for me, but we ain't got a chance. just hope it's not another african, as we can't allow ourselves to lose any more players for a whole month.
How about Samaras from Celtic as a squad player? He's a decent player but not in Bent class and wouldn't break the bank. I also like Sturridge but can't see him coming up here.
as the song goes, two out of three ain't bad, **** rod off and get a top striker, the other two will do as support.
If Sturridge is recalled this summer, where does that leave Drogba? O.k., he's 32(?) but he's one of the few men who can really replace Bent, and his age might just make him affordable. He'd give us a couple of good years for sure. The problem is he's African and will vanish to the ACofN. Feelings, anyone?
With Noble making the breakthrough into the first team this season and Craig Lynch doing great things in the reserves, which will surely lead to his promotion to the first team squad next season, I really don't think we need to go for 3 strikers. Bare in mind that Sess can also play as a striker and that is 4 strikers (not counting Campbell) before the cheque book is even opened. SB or A N Other is not going to have a bottomless pit of money to spend in the summer. What is just as important in my eyes, is the recruitment of LB and LW players, to provide the team some balance, as well as the 2 new strikers that are needed. (Edited) It's going to be an interesting summer boys and girls!
Sorry, don't quite agree with you there. Yes the young lads are doing well and could be the answer for the future and but with Campbell's injury I think we need at least 1 striker to provide a solid back up to Sess and Gyan. I wouldn't be too unhappy with a primary front three of Gyan, Sess and Bendtner, with the 2 lads as backup and then Campbell to come back into it at the end of the season. I think it's too risky to just have 2 lads as backup.
Sorry mate, I screwed up with my post, because I meant to add that we only need to sign 2 strikers, not 3. I've edited my original post to reflect this
Not a problem, I misread your post as well, I took it that you meant we didn't need to bring in any strikers, but agree 100% with the left sided problem, after the striker(s) that needs to be sorted asap, but I'm buggered if I know who to sign for those positions.
Pav and Graham are the 2 for me, Wellbeck, obviously, if permanent. Those 3 plus Gyan and Campbell would be quality for a team that has seen less of Europe than a backstreet whore living in Cuba.
